This is a pre-release candidate for testing. It is not a stable release.

Highlights

  • Full-scrollback visual selection and copying through Terminator’s existing right-click Copy action.
  • Authenticated native row-content rendering fast path enabled by default.
  • Prepared-snapshot transactional Copy enabled by default for faster, reliable full-scrollback clipboard updates.
  • Guarded same-frame fallback, per-pane latching, structural checks, and periodic exact validation.
  • Atomic clipboard commit, retry protection, deferred clipboard persistence, and preservation of the previous clipboard on failure.
  • Semantic violet command rendering, line-number highlighting, scrolling, reflow, and lowest-row recovery retained.
  • Binary-package installer, uninstaller, native ABI verifier, developer installer, reproducible build tooling, and source checksums.
  • Packaging tests cover rollback, ABI rejection, tampering, checksum rejection, symlink rejection, modified-file protection, and unrelated-file preservation.

Prebuilt package

The attached package is for Linux x86-64 systems using glibc.
It contains the Python plugin and authenticated native shared library, but does not contain the C development sources.

Download both the archive and SHA256SUMS, then verify and install:

./install.sh

Fully close and reopen Terminator, then enable FullSelectVisualPrototype under Terminator Preferences → Plugins.

Developers and users on other architectures can build from source using scripts/install-developer.sh in the repository.

  • VTE API namespace 2.91 (tested runtime: 0.84.0)
  • KDE Plasma on Wayland
  • Linux x86-64 with glibc

VTE compatibility

2.91 is the GTK 3 VTE API namespace, not the VTE runtime release number.
This release was tested with VTE runtime 0.84.0. Other VTE runtime
releases that provide Vte-2.91, including newer releases, may work but
have not yet been verified. Environments providing only another VTE API
namespace are not currently supported.

Known limitations

  • Only the environment listed above has been fully confirmed.
  • Known flicker may occur while actively moving or resizing a window with the mouse button held.
  • The visual selection is an overlay rather than a native VTE selection.
  • Full-scrollback copying integrates with Terminator’s existing right-click Copy menu action.
  • The prebuilt native library is specific to Linux x86-64 with glibc.
