Install VICE:

Install the kernal and other files needed to run C64 emulator:

sudo apt-get install flex byacc dos2unix xa65 texinfo texlive-binaries libglew2.1 libglew-dev
Go to https://vice-emu.sourceforge.io/ and download vice-3.6.1.tar.gz. Unpack it and cd to vice-3.6.1 and
# --with-oss use the OSS sound system
# --without-pulse do not use PulseAudio sound system
# --disable-catweasel disables CatWeasel (PCI/Zorro/Clockport SID card) support
# --enable-ethernet enables The Final Ethernet emulation
# ./configure --prefix=/home/darko/Programs/VICE --enable-sdlui2 --without-oss --enable-ethernet --disable-catweasel --without-pulse
./configure --prefix=/home/darko/Programs/VICE
make -j $(nproc)
VICE configuration can be found in /home/darko/.config/vice.
Install cc65 compiler. For Debian and Ubuntu based distributions, see OBS: Debian .DEB and RPM.
cl65 -O -t c64 -o <binary>.prg <source_code>.c
First sudo apt install default-jre and then download Kick Assembler. To assemble a program see here here. In a nutshell,
