BTC Purchase Tracker v1.1.1

This release introduces native macOS Apple Silicon support, fixes CSV reimport and Windows database backups, and makes purchase-date validation consistent across manual entry and CSV import.

What's new

  • macOS Apple Silicon support: native arm64 application for M1 and later.
  • CSV reimport fix: exported CSV files can now be reimported without treating the TOTALI / TOTALS summary row as a purchase or reporting it as an invalid date. Supported in Italian and English, with EUR and USD.
  • Windows backup fix: corrected temporary-file handling when creating a database backup or replacing an existing backup.
  • Consistent date validation: purchase dates must fall between 3 January 2009 — Bitcoin’s genesis block — and today, inclusive. This applies to manual entry, editing and CSV import.
  • Platform-specific search shortcut: Cmd+F on macOS and Ctrl+F on Windows and Linux.
  • Expanded automated tests and updated documentation.

All existing features remain available, including live search, year filters, charts, monthly DCA averages, Italian/English interfaces and EUR/USD support.

Compatibility

No database migration is required. Existing BTC Purchase Tracker v1.0.0 and v1.1.0 databases remain compatible with v1.1.1.

Database and backup formats are unchanged.

Downloads

Download the complete ZIP package for your operating system:

  • Linux x86_64: BTC-Purchase-Tracker-1.1.1-x86_64.zip
Extract the ZIP and run the included AppImage. If necessary, enable its executable permission in the file properties.

  • Windows 10/11 x64: BTC-Purchase-Tracker-1.1.1-Windows-x64.zip
Extract the ZIP and all its contents, then run BTC-Purchase-Tracker.exe.

  • macOS Apple Silicon: BTC-Purchase-Tracker-1.1.1-macOS-arm64.zip
Extract the ZIP, open the included DMG and drag BTC Purchase Tracker into Applications. Eject the disk image and launch the app from Applications. Requires macOS 12 Monterey or later and an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later). Intel Macs are not supported.

The Source code archives are intended for users who want to compile the application themselves.

Download verification

The separate checksums.txt release asset contains the SHA-256 hashes of the three complete ZIP packages.

Download it alongside your chosen ZIP and compare the ZIP’s SHA-256 hash with the corresponding entry before extracting it. These hashes refer to the ZIP files, not to the applications or DMG inside them.

Windows SmartScreen

The Windows application is not digitally signed, so Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may display a warning.

After confirming that you downloaded the package from this repository and verified its checksum, select More info → Run anyway if that option is available.

macOS first launch

The macOS application is ad-hoc signed but is not notarized by Apple. macOS may therefore warn that the developer cannot be verified.

After attempting to open the app, go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and use Open Anyway if available. Confirm that the package came from this repository before proceeding.

Licensing

Licensing information and third-party notices are included in the application packages.

Testing

  • Windows and Linux: the final v1.1.1 builds were manually tested successfully.
  • macOS: compilation and automated tests passed for the final build. Manual testing was completed successfully on an iMac M3 running macOS Tahoe 26.6.2, covering launching the app, entering purchases, searching, exporting CSV and database backups, restarting, importing CSV and restoring a backup. This manual testing preceded the final backup correction, which addresses a Windows file-handling issue in shared code. The corrected macOS build passed automated tests but has not yet been manually retested.
