@datbird datbird released this 21 Oct 01:32

Sixth beta of Termurion, a full feature parity port of iTerm2 to Windows 10 and 11.

New in beta6:

  • Share settings with iTerm2 on a Mac. General > Settings > "Load settings from a custom folder or URL" now works with the folder iTerm2 on your Mac uses (iCloud Drive, Dropbox, any synced folder). When the folder holds com.googlecode.iterm2.plist and no termurion-settings.toml, Termurion loads that plist at every start and saves changes back into it, as iTerm2 does. A save merges into the file, so settings Termurion does not read (Mac-only settings, background image data) stay as they were. When the folder holds both files, Termurion's own file wins. You can also point the setting at the .plist file itself.
  • tmux with psmux: Move Session to Split Pane, tab reordering and pane user variables now go to psmux servers too. A move the server refuses shows its reason in a short toast instead of a banner that stayed until quit.

Fixed in beta6:

  • Stuck mouse reporting over slow ssh: when an ssh session died while mouse reporting was on, a screen of mouse reports could print before Termurion offered to turn reporting off. The check now catches the echo on slow links too (FIXES 18).

Install: download Termurion-0.0.1-beta6-setup.exe and run it. It installs for your user only (no admin prompt), adds a Start Menu shortcut, and shows up in Apps > Installed apps for uninstall. It upgrades earlier betas in place.

Portable: or download the zip, unzip it anywhere, and run termurion.exe. Keep all the files together.

Windows warning: the files are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say they are unrecognized. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Fifth beta of Termurion, a full feature parity port of iTerm2 to Windows 10 and 11.

New in beta5:

  • No shortcut uses the Win key. Windows keeps Win chords for itself, so every Termurion shortcut that used Win has moved. The Shortcut Key (iTerm2's Cmd) is now Ctrl+Shift or Ctrl+Alt, and a saved Win setting changes to Ctrl+Shift. The table of moved shortcuts is in Copy Mode help and FIXES.md (item 13).
  • Full screen: F11 toggles full screen. In full screen, tap Alt or move the pointer to the top edge to show the menu bar (FIXES 12).
  • Save Page As to an SSH host: the browser pane can save a page straight to a remote host over SSH.
  • iTerm2's window flags: the Alt key offer, timestamps in Save Contents, and the paste view animation (FIXES 14).
  • Renderer: Termurion now uses DirectX 12 first, honors Prefer integrated GPU, and recovers after the GPU device is lost (FIXES 15).
  • tmux: a psmux server on the same machine is treated as local, and tmux over ssh now has a live test suite.

Fixed in beta5:

  • Prompt after the alternate screen: after you left vim, less or tmux, typed text could draw far from the prompt. Fixed (FIXES 11).
  • psmux Detach: Shell > tmux > Detach on a psmux session left a raw control-mode tab. It now ends the client cleanly (FIXES 16).
  • Settings > Advanced: the pinned heading now lines up with its rows (FIXES 17).

Known limit: psmux refuses set-buffer, so tmux clipboard sync does not work with psmux yet.

Install: download Termurion-0.0.1-beta5-setup.exe and run it.

@datbird datbird released this 16 Oct 05:17

Fourth beta of Termurion, a full feature parity port of iTerm2 to Windows 10 and 11.

New in beta4:

  • iTerm2's menus, windows and Settings, item for item: the terminal right-click menu, the main menus, the Settings window, and the dialogs and bars now have iTerm2's full item lists and exact wording. Before, parts of them were copied from a summary, and about a dozen right-click items were missing. Tests now check each list against iTerm2's source. Details are in FIXES.md (item 5).

Fixed in beta4:

  • Crash on text selection: selecting a word could crash Termurion. The word-break iterator was closed before use (FIXES 6).
  • Copy Base64-Decoded: the item now shows for unpadded base64, as in iTerm2 (FIXES 7).
  • Settings drop-downs: a drop-down could flash, close, or open slowly. They now open fully on the first click (FIXES 8).
  • Cursor after a resize: after a long output and a window resize, typed text could land mid-screen instead of at the prompt. This is fixed for a resize at a prompt. A resize while output is still printing is still being worked on (FIXES 9).
  • Menu bar flash: a Minimal or Compact window no longer flashes the menu bar while you resize it (FIXES 10).

Install: download Termurion-0.0.1-beta4-setup.exe and run it.

@datbird datbird released this 14 Oct 16:08

Third beta of Termurion, a full feature parity port of iTerm2 to Windows 10 and 11.

Fixed in beta3:

  • Hidden dialogs: a question box, such as "Close Window?", could open hidden behind its window. The window then ignored every click and only played the Windows error sound. The cause was winit's paint handling: while a box was open, the window asked to repaint without end, and the box could not draw. Termurion now holds back that loop while a box is open, and brings each box to the front. Details are in FIXES.md (item 4).

Also in this line since beta1: psmux and WSL tmux support, a tmux 3.4 fix, crash recovery, and Move Session greying out. See the beta2 notes.

Install: download Termurion-0.0.1-beta3-setup.exe and run it.

@datbird datbird released this 14 Oct 14:38

Second beta of Termurion, a full feature parity port of iTerm2 to Windows 10 and 11.

New in beta2:

  • psmux and WSL tmux: tmux integration is now tested live against psmux 3.3.8 (native Windows tmux) and tmux 3.4 in WSL. Shell > tmux has New psmux Session and New tmux Session in WSL. Termurion detects psmux and turns off the few commands psmux lacks. See tmux integration.
  • tmux 3.4 fix: Termurion no longer sends tmux 3.4 a color report command that only tmux 3.5 knows.
  • Crash recovery: Termurion and its session host now write a crash dump to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Termurion\crashes. If Termurion crashes, the session host reopens it and your sessions come back.
  • Move Session: Move Session to Window and Move Session to Tab grey out when there is nothing to move, as in iTerm2.

Install: download Termurion-0.0.1-beta2-setup.exe and run it. It installs for your user only (no admin prompt), adds a Start Menu shortcut, and shows up in Apps > Installed apps for uninstall. It upgrades beta1 in place.

Portable: or download the zip, unzip it anywhere, and run termurion.exe. Keep all the files together.

Windows warning: the files are not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may say they are unrecognized. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
