v0.3.0
Highlights
datum-mcp now starts with a smaller tool list and loads the rest when a task needs it. Only core plus the alb, dns and network toolsets load at startup: 39 tools instead of 75, roughly half the tool-list context a client pays for every session before its first call. Every other toolset is one call away, mid-session, with no restart.
⚠️ Behaviour changes
- Smaller default. With
DATUM_MCP_ENABLE_TOOLSETSunset, onlyalb, dnsandnetworkload at startup (previously: every toolset).compute, activity, ipam, vpc, iam, billing, services, searchandresourcenow load on demand. To keep the old behaviour, setDATUM_MCP_ENABLE_TOOLSETS=all. DATUM_MCP_ENABLE_TOOLSETSsets what loads at startup, not the full set the server can ever offer. It acceptsall(every toolset) andcore(core tools only).DATUM_MCP_DISABLE_TOOLSETSis now a hard block. A disabled toolset isn't loaded at startup and can't be loaded mid-session either.DATUM_MCP_DISABLE_TOOLSETS=alllimits the server to core.- http mode: one server serves every session, so a toolset loaded by one session is loaded for all of them.
New
toolsetstool (core).action: "list"shows every toolset asloaded, availableordisabled.action: "load"withnames: ["compute"]registers that toolset's tools, guide and prompts on the running server and sendsnotifications/tools/list_changed, so the client picks them up without a restart. If a client doesn't pick up tool-list changes, the reply says exactly whichDATUM_MCP_ENABLE_TOOLSETSvalue to set before restarting.--list-toolsetsflag.datum-mcp --list-toolsetsprints every toolset, whether it loads at startup under your current environment, and what it covers.- Agents can see what isn't loaded. The
toolsetstool's description lists every toolset not yet loaded and what it covers. Theinitializeinstructions split toolsets into loaded, loadable and turned off. Each service guide's hand-off notes say how to load the other service's toolset. - Prompts follow their toolsets.
deploy-http-proxy(needsalb+network) andconfigure-dns(needsdns) are offered once those toolsets are loaded. Both are on by default.
Docs
- The README has a new Toolsets section listing every toolset name.
docs/TOOLS.mddocuments the new defaults, thetoolsetstool and--list-toolsets.
