v0.2.0 — guided setup

Choose a tag to compare

@dave8172 dave8172 released this 09 Sep 22:36

tally-aiagent setup walks through connecting to Tally one question at a time, finds your company name so you never have to type it exactly, tests as it goes, and writes your settings for you. README now leads with prerequisites and the local-vs-cloud Tally split.

Masters now resolves names added after construction — the lookup index rebuilds when the table changes rather than being built once at construction.

v0.1.0 — the gate

First release.

Tally does not reject a master name it has never seen — it creates one, posts against it, and reports success. This library refuses to write any name that is not already in Tally's own master list, and reads every voucher back after posting to check that Tally stored what you meant.

Verified against a live company (240 stock items, 519 ledgers):

  • Purchase — generated XML is byte-identical to a production system's, 37,467 bytes on a real 75-line voucher
  • Journal — posted live, read back, both sign conventions correct
  • Sales — rebuilt from a real posted voucher and compared field by field; shape matches, but no sales voucher has been posted yet
  • The gate — six real supplier names, four differing from Tally's spelling by punctuation or case; all resolved correctly, and a near-miss Tally does not hold was refused

Ships a Python library, a tally-aiagent CLI, and an MCP server so an AI agent can use Tally with the gate in the way. Writing through the MCP server is two steps by construction: an agent cannot post anything that has not produced a human-readable report first.

51 tests, run against a fake Tally — no Tally installation needed to contribute.
