0.6.7

Added

  • In-game custom capes: your local custom cape now renders in-game through the Vermeil companion mod, installed automatically for supported instances.
  • Cape support across Minecraft 1.8.9 (Forge), 1.21–1.21.1, 1.21.11, and 26.1–26.2.
  • Animated custom capes (GIF/APNG/WebP) play both in the cape editor and in-game.
  • Custom cape editor: position and scale your art, pick a resolution up to HD, set a background color, and preview the cape as an unfolded net.
  • A single in-game cape toggle that stays in sync across supported instances, with click-to-equip from the Skins screen.
  • Instance cards show a badge when the companion mod supports that instance.

Changed

  • Launcher data is now stored in your local app data directory instead of the roaming profile.

Fixed

  • Custom capes render crisp at the resolution you choose, matching the editor preview.
  • Browse search retries transient network failures instead of showing an error.
  • The game window reliably comes to the front on launch, even when it isn't maximized.

Added

  • In-game custom capes now work on Minecraft 1.21.11.

Fixed

  • Animated custom capes now render at the resolution you choose instead of always looking low-res.

Pre-release

0.6.4

Added

  • Instance cards show a badge when the Vermeil companion mod (in-game capes) supports that instance.

Changed

  • Selecting a custom cape applies it in-game right away and confirms it, and a launch notice tells you whether the companion mod installed.

Fixed

  • In-game HD capes no longer shimmer at a distance.
  • Custom cape selection stays in sync when reopening Skins, and resolution edits now apply in-game.

Vermeil v0.6.3 EXPERIMENTAL

20 Jun 09:08

Pre-release

0.6.3

Changed

  • Selecting a custom cape now enables it in-game directly (no separate toggle), and the selection stays in sync when you reopen Skins.

Fixed

  • In-game custom cape renders crisp instead of blurry.
  • Custom cape now shows in-game even when the account has a Mojang cape.

Vermeil v0.6.2 EXPERIMENTAL

Pre-release

0.6.2

Added

  • In-game custom capes now work on Minecraft 1.21.1 (Fabric), alongside 26.x.

Fixed

  • In-game cape renders in full instead of only the top half.
  • Animated in-game capes no longer fail to load at high resolutions or long loops.

Vermeil v0.6.1 EXPERIMENTAL

20 Jun 05:36

Choose a tag to compare

Pre-release

0.6.1

Changed

  • In-game custom capes now install the companion mod automatically for supported Fabric and Quilt instances on Minecraft 26.1.x / 26.2 — the launcher downloads the matching, hash-verified mod jar into the instance on launch, so there's no more placing a jar by hand. Toggling the cape off removes it again. Still experimental while it matures.

Vermeil v0.6.0 EXPERIMENTAL

20 Jun 01:19

Choose a tag to compare

Pre-release

0.6.0

Added

  • Custom cape editor — create local capes from your own images, positioned and previewed on the 3D model in the skin viewer.
  • Animated custom capes (GIF, APNG, WebP) that play in the skin viewer.
  • Cape resolution picker, from standard up to HD.
  • Experimental: in-game custom capes via the Vermeil companion mod (Fabric, Minecraft 26.1.x and 26.2), toggled with "Show in-game" on the Skins screen. Experimental for now — it requires the companion mod to be installed manually; automatic install isn't available yet.

Changed

  • Launcher data now lives in your local app data (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Vermeil on Windows, ~/.local/share/Vermeil on Linux) instead of the roaming profile.

Fixed

  • Browse search retries transient Modrinth and CurseForge failures instead of surfacing an error toast.
  • The game window is brought to the front on launch even when it isn't maximized.
  • Several custom cape editor rendering fixes: face wrapping, nearest-neighbour filtering, animated frame decoding, background handling, and the resolution dropdown overflow.
