Version 1.18.0.0
This release adds support for the RC2014 SID-Ulator Sound Module, introducing a new collection of BASIC programs demonstrating music and sound effects.
What’s new
- SID-Ulator Sound
- C-major scale
- Laser sound effects
- Rising-and-falling siren
- Gunshot effects
- Explosion effects
- Engine idle and revving
The programs explore several of the SID-Ulator’s capabilities, including triangle, sawtooth, pulse and noise waveforms, envelope-controlled sound, frequency sweeps and multi-voice effects.
Documentation
- Added hardware setup and port configuration for the SID-Ulator module
- Added individual tuning guidance for each sound effect
- Added implementation notes describing the SID register usage, waveform selection, envelopes and frequency handling
- Added references to the RC2014 SID-Ulator module documentation and MOS 6581 SID datasheet
Hardware
The new programs require an RC2014 SID-Ulator Sound Module configured for ports D4/D5, with headphones or powered speakers connected to its audio output.
With this release, the RC2014 gains another output dimension: alongside serial output, LEDs and LCD graphics, programs can now produce sound.
