This is the second, and possibly, last release. What is here are some tarballs, each one containing a FPC compiler and source that can be untared (by hand or using one of the scripts) into $HOME/bin/FPC or, in the case of ARM systems, a location of your choice. On ARM (eg RaspberryPi) I always install compiler and lazarus on an external disk to avoid problems with the SDCard. Similarly, I move the swap file to that other, external, disk and make it 2G. You can, if you need, have all three installed there, switch between them by changing your path.
ARM - added in version two.
New in this release. On ARM (eg RaspberryPi) I always install compiler and lazarus on an external disk to avoid problems with the SDCard. Similarly, I move the swap file to that other, external, disk and make it 2G. So, the -i option to the install script, fpc-tar.bash, MUST be used on ARM.
Notes :
- All ARM tarballs are constructed differently, maybe I'll update the x86_64 ones to the same way one day. The ARM do not include a path back to $HOME to allow them to be installed in a place of the user's choice.
- All tarballs are built on a system using glibc < 2.34
- Tarballs without an arch are x86_64
- There used to be a zip of the scripts, too much trouble keeping it up to date. Just grap the scripts themselves from previous page.
- Oct 2025, I updated the 324rc1 to be based on the tagged release_3_2_4_rc1 rather than the release_3_2_4-branch (which, incorrectly think of itself as 3.2.4). This requires a current fpc-tar.bash to install.
Always, this is an ugly hack that suits me. You are welcome to use it if you so choose and even provide some feedback in what ever form. I'll certainly consider your suggestions but I don't see this a general use solution !
