The animations behind the effect tiles were too faint. Softening them in 1.6.0 went too
far, and several tiles read as empty rather than as quiet. They are the same soft washes,
turned back up.

Three things were doing it together. The wash was drawn at a quarter strength, brightness
was carried straight through to opacity so anything half lit almost vanished, and the fade
towards the name covered too much of the tile.

The reactive effects needed more than that. They are black between key presses, which is
right on a keyboard and useless on a tile, since at one press every second and a half the
tile spends most of its life looking switched off. They now hold a resting glow in their own
colour, with the pulses riding on top of it.

That glow comes from the brightest colour an effect uses rather than the first. The reactive
effects deliberately start from black, that being what a keyboard should look like when
nothing is happening, so their first colour is the one that could not serve as a glow.
