synchronizing X wm (i3) with bar and sxhkd

Hi,
I've noticed that many programs don't seem to play fair at all when part of a service-based system rather than being started as as background process in, say, .config/autostart, the shell config file, the wm config file etc. I hate all those distributed, disintegrated conventions.
Yet for the moment, I can't avoid putting some delay on polybar (sleep 1; polybar) and, for the life of me, I have to restart sxhkd manually: restart won't work as a service or even launched from i3. No delay works this tmie. Only restart or the hotkey daemon will see qwerty even with "setxkmap run" has been executed long ago. Incredible !

There's really no active place counting as a "dinit" community beside here, which is unfortunate as though the program is mature, stuff doesn't always mesh with it, don't always declare proper initialization.
Could you look at my setup and tell me how you do ?

If not for the file descriptor, bar wouldn't open at all. So I know the initlization is done, although not complete as the hotkey daemon still sees qwerty when nothing else does.

setxkbmap:
type = process

Should likely be type = scripted, you want it to be considered ready once the program has run to completion, not when it starts to run.

Probably because it depends on wm but wm doesn't use readiness notification so is considered ready as soon as the process starts (at which point, it's likely not really ready). Use readiness notification if possible, or use a triggered service which is triggered by something that the window manager itself starts (startup script or similar).

Probably you should start by checking the service output (log file) to see what the error is, I can't really say what's wrong (and I'm not really familiar with the program).

For sxhkd, this is the worst: nothing in the log.
But I solved both issue by sending one bit into a given file descriptor. Didn't I could do that manually with the shell.
But I wonder, why the hotkey daemon needs the wm's initialization over the X server's ?
