• Default counter display is now "Only show on fields with a character limit set" (previously "Always show"). Existing installs keep their saved choice; this only affects fresh installs.
• The configured-only option is now listed first in the Counter Display setting.
• The Display Settings section now appears above Default Character Limits on the settings page.
• Updated French translation (.po/.mo) accordingly.
