Workshop Memory Explorer

The Memory Explorer is where you browse, search, and curate what Kai remembers about you. Open Memory in the sidebar's Workspace section. Everything here is scoped to you: you see your own memories only, and your changes touch no one else's.

The explorer works with two kinds of records. A fact is a single piece of stored knowledge with free-form content. An episode is a structured record of something that happened: what the goal was, what was tried, and how it turned out.

Layout

The explorer has two panes. The left pane holds the corpus: statistics (Total memories, Facts, Episodes), the search box, filters, and the result list. The right pane shows the detail of the selected memory, or the batch-selection controls when you are selecting several.

Search and browse

Type into the search box ("Describe what you remember…") to run a semantic search over your memories. Semantic means it matches by meaning, so "what editor do I like" finds a fact about your preferred IDE even if no words overlap. Clear the query to fall back to browsing the whole corpus.

Sorting adapts to what you are doing: a search sorts by Relevance, Newest first, or Oldest first, while plain browsing offers Newest first and Oldest first. Result lists page with a Load more memories button, and you can move through results with the keyboard.

Filters

Four filters narrow either mode:

Filter Options
Kind Facts and episodes, Facts, Episodes
Scope Every scope, Global, Project, Task
Project Every project, or one specific project
Tag Free text, for example preference

Picking a specific project switches the Scope filter to Project automatically. Apply filters runs the query; Clear filters resets it.

Memory detail

Selecting a result fills the right pane:

  • The stored content, rendered as Markdown. Episodes also show their structured fields.
  • Recall scope: where this memory is eligible to surface, with a plain-language description. A global memory is always eligible; a project memory is available while its project is active. The description also explains records that recall skips: task-scoped memories are not currently recalled, and records with a legacy or invalid stored scope are quarantined until reviewed.
  • A metadata row: Speaker, Confidence, Source, and Updated.
  • Agent recall preview: the compact record Kai can place in an agent prompt when this memory is recalled. This is what the agent actually sees, and it is deliberately smaller than the full stored record above it.
  • Source conversation: the original message and the agent result the memory came from, when they are still available.
  • Tags, when the record has any.

Adding a fact

Add fact (the + button above the results) opens the editor with an empty record. Write the content, set tags and a recall scope, and save. Facts you add by hand join recall like any extracted memory.

Editing

Edit memory… opens the same editor over the selected record. Facts have a single Content field. Episodes have their structured fields instead: Goal, Context, Approach, Outcome, Outcome quality, Actors, and Lessons. Both kinds also let you change Tags and the recall scope.

Saving re-indexes the record, so search finds the new content by meaning right away. Provenance does not change: the source conversation, speaker, and origin of the record stay as they were captured, no matter how much the content is edited.

If the record changed while your editor was open (for example, an agent updated it), saving stops with "This memory changed after you opened it. Reload the latest revision before saving again." and a Reload latest button. Reload, reapply your edit, and save.

Moving scope

The Manage memory section has a Move to picker (Global scope, or one of your projects) and a Move memory… button. Moving changes where the record can surface: global memories are eligible everywhere, project memories only while their project is active. A confirmation dialog states the target scope and lists the affected record before anything changes.

Forgetting

Forget memory… removes the record after a confirmation dialog that lists it and warns: these records will be permanently removed from recall and cannot be restored here. The confirming button is Forget permanently, and it means it; the UI has no undo and no trash bin. If you might want the content later, copy it out before you forget it.

Batch selection

Select memories switches the list into selection mode with a checkbox per row. The right pane swaps to the batch controls: pick a target and move every selected memory's scope at once, or Forget selected… to remove them all. Both actions go through the same confirmation dialog, which lists every affected record, and bulk forgetting is exactly as permanent as the single kind. Cancel selection returns to the normal detail view.

Good to know

  • Forget is permanent. There is no restore from the UI, for one memory or a hundred. The confirmation dialog is the last stop.
  • Editing re-indexes; provenance stays put. Your edit changes what search finds and what agents recall, while the record's origin stays immutable.
  • The editor catches concurrent edits. If the record changed under you, it refuses to save and offers Reload latest instead of silently overwriting.
