Release list
Budgebell v0.3.0
Added
- Linux: pause nudges while you're away (idle), on a call (microphone in use), or in GNOME Do Not Disturb.
- Settings has an Updates section: it shows the running version, checks GitHub for a newer release, and installs it and restarts with one click. The tray has a "Check for updates…" item too. Updating from v0.2.0 itself still needs a manual download, since that build has no updater.
Fixed
- Nudges no longer fire right after you log in, come back to the computer, or finally act on a nudge you'd ignored: the next one waits the full interval from that moment, and a nudge still on screen holds back the next.
- Event times are now stored as true UTC and shown in your local time zone, so logged times no longer read hours ahead outside the app. Existing history is converted once on upgrade, and day boundaries, at-time reminders and nudge intervals stay correct across daylight-saving changes. Quit Budgebell before upgrading, so the old version can't log in the old format after the conversion.
Budgebell v0.2.0
Added
- Release management:
CHANGELOG.mdis generated by changie from per-PR fragments, and releases are cut through a Release PR workflow that bumps every version location and publishes unsigned macOS, Linux and Windows bundles as a draft GitHub release.
Fixed
- A second launch now focuses the running instance instead of starting a duplicate (tray icon included)
Budgebell v0.1.0
Initial release. Budgebell is a fully-local desktop app that nudges you through habits (movement
drills first, general habits too), shows you what to do, and logs what you actually did. Habit
definitions, media and logs stay on your machine: no network calls, no telemetry, no cloud.
Added
- Tray-only app (menu bar on macOS, status icon on Linux) with an always-on-top corner toast that
stays up until you mark a habit Done or Skip, expands into a dialog with full instructions, and
can be snoozed or paused. - Scheduler with interval and time-of-day triggers, habit rotations, and quiet rules that hold
nudges back while you are idle, in a call (microphone in use), or in a calendar meeting. - Local SQLite store for habits and the done/skipped event log, seeded with default content on
first run, plus a Stats window that summarises the day. - Local images shown in nudges, served from the app's own media folder.
- Bundled local MCP server (stdio) so an MCP client can list, add, update and disable habits and
query the log.
Known limitations
- Builds are unsigned. macOS and Windows will warn on first launch; see the Install section of
the README. - macOS is the primary target; Linux support is newer and less exercised. On GNOME the tray icon
needs the AppIndicator shell extension.
