Live Wall 1.0.0
The first release of Live Wall, the realtime photo wall built for next.app devCon 2026 in Berlin.
Attendees scan a QR code, send a photo from their phone, the booth approves it, and it floats onto a Fire TV running a React Native app on Amazon Vega OS.
What's in it
- Fire TV app (React Native 0.83 for Vega OS): animated polaroid collage, a full-screen spotlight that zooms out of the wall, live arrivals with a "new photo" heads-up, a tribe battle, and a remote that reaches every photo, not just the ones on screen. A connecting screen covers start-up and says so when the API can't be reached. Back closes the full-screen view; on the wall, pressing it twice exits, so a stray press can't close the booth screen.
- Phone page at https://nextapp-wall.dedic.dev, with a hidden
/adminpage for approvals and a phone remote. - API on Cloudflare Workers: Hono, D1, R2 and a hibernating Durable Object that pushes every approval to all screens. Hardened for a public event:
- upload limits sized for venue Wi-Fi
- checks on the real image type and pixel size
- hotlink protection
- signed links for photos still waiting for approval
- an admin passcode lockout
