Melicum 0.3.1
Melicum 0.3.1 fixes the virtual output's maximum volume being limited by the physical device's previous volume on outputs with native volume controls.
- The virtual slider now reaches the physical device's full volume range, using writable master or channel controls without applying master attenuation twice.
- Supported physical mute controls follow the virtual mute state. Disabling audio keeps the last requested physical volume and mute state.
- The chosen startup volume and mute are preserved when macOS restores cached device controls.
- Fixed-volume HDMI and DisplayPort outputs continue to use software volume control.
Existing settings and presets are preserved. This fix does not require reinstalling the optional system volume component.
Requires macOS 14.2 or later. Downloads support Apple silicon and Intel Macs and are signed and notarized. The update is also available through Check for Updates… in Melicum.
Melicum 0.3.0
Melicum 0.3.0 introduces a more focused audio console while preserving the original lyre logo and existing audio settings.
- Output selection, master volume, balance, boost and spectrum remain visible while editing another panel.
- Refined buttons, checkboxes, switches, selectors and fields use the logo’s graphite, cream and restrained red palette.
- The EQ graph has hollow control nodes and a subtle response fill, and the quick menu puts volume and mute first.
- Refreshed screenshots and a complete user guide cover EQ, app levels, spatial audio, Audio Units, presets, language, startup and updates.
- A scoped uninstall script can preview removal and optionally clear personal settings and local build artifacts.
Melicum checks for stable updates automatically and asks before downloading and installing. Configure this under Presets → Updates. App updates retain settings and presets; optional audio component updates use the included installer separately.
Requires macOS 14.2 or later. Downloads support Apple silicon and Intel Macs and are signed and notarized. The audio engine and virtual device identity remain compatible with 0.2.2.
Melicum 0.2.2
Melicum 0.2.2 stabilizes the equalizer interface, adds signed updates from GitHub, and brings the lyre logo to the menu bar.
Changes
- Keep the equalizer controls and response curve stable while the live audio spectrum updates.
- Check for new stable GitHub releases automatically, with confirmation before downloading and installing. Update checks can also be started from the Melicum menu, menu bar panel, or Presets.
- Verify update feeds and archives with EdDSA signatures and Apple code signing. Preserve settings and restore the physical audio output during the update restart.
- Use the lyre logo as the menu bar icon, with native display resolutions and the system menu bar color.
- Preserve English, Italian, French, German, and Spanish translations.
Install
Download Melicum-0.2.2.dmg, open it, and drag Melicum into Applications. Melicum.dmg is an identical copy used by the website's direct download link. A ZIP archive is also available.
The universal app supports Apple Silicon and Intel Macs running macOS 14.2 or later. The app and disk image are Developer ID signed and notarized by Apple.
Install this version manually if you are coming from 0.2.1; it enables checks for future releases. The optional system volume component installer remains included in the app.
Validation
19 Swift tests cover audio processing, localization, settings, and separation of live meter updates from editable controls. The release workflow also runs the HAL driver tests. Update installation, settings preservation, and physical audio output restoration were verified on macOS.
