Fixes

  1. MADV_RANDOM on block mmaps is now opt-in. v0.8.9 (#427) unconditionally called madvise(MADV_RANDOM) on every block index/chunk mmap to shrink the page-cache footprint, but disabling kernel readahead can raise disk IOPS on some storage backends. The advise is now gated behind PROMPP_FEATURES=enable_madvise_random and off by default (#489).

Enhancements

  1. Scraper validates UTF-8 over the whole scrape body by default. The Prometheus/OpenMetrics text scraper previously ran simdutf validation per token (metric names, label names/values, HELP text), silently skipping comments and other bytes it didn't tokenize. Parsing now validates the entire input buffer up front, catching invalid UTF-8 anywhere in the payload; the old per-token behavior can be restored with PROMPP_FEATURES=disable_scraper_full_utf8 (#482).
