Autobot 0.3.0: Guided first-time setup

Autobot 0.3.0 adds a guided first-time setup agent.

Start with the short bootstrap instructions in the README. Once Computer Use is available, the agent walks through the remaining setup, performs safe local steps, and pauses only for a required user action. It preserves the exact resume point and checks the result before continuing.

The release includes protected setup checkpoints, accountless local defaults, and independent completion verification. Isolated installation tests cover clean and repeated installs, upgrades, rollback, interrupted setup, missing Node, and hostile input cases. A normal installation also passed a native Chrome walkthrough on the test host.

Fresh-machine OS permission prompts, new account sign-in, and every hardware or provider combination have not been exercised. Those user-only boundaries are documented and remain explicit.

Autobot 0.2.0

Autobot 0.2.0 adds a durable local runtime for tasks with multiple outputs, explicit requirements, current evidence and independent acceptance. Corrections invalidate affected work, and interrupted tasks retain their owner and resume point.

This release also adds selective memory and context, local proof checks, issue records and deduplicated foreground handoffs. Installation starts with empty state and no configured accounts, recipients, schedules or spending authority.

The default folder remains ~/AutoAssist. The base installer, doctor and uninstall use macOS tools and need no account or Node installation. Advanced runtime commands require Node.js 22 or later. Native app capabilities and permissions are configured separately.

Download the versioned ZIP, manifest and checksum below. Verify the checksum before extracting, then follow the installation guide. Existing users should finish work in the target Project and use the documented upgrade command.

Validation used macOS 15.7.4 on Apple silicon with Node.js 22.23.2. Checks covered reproducible ZIP bytes, archive extraction, privacy, 83 core assertions, base installation, upgrade from the published 0.1.0 ZIP, security boundaries, interruption recovery and first-time setup. The isolated service ran through launchd on its normal interval, and uninstall preserved its data.

A fresh-Mac end-to-end onboarding test and native app permission setup remain manual checks. Privacy zones and separate validator labels are operating controls within one Mac, not OS isolation or cryptographic identities.
