MusicScope.NET v1.1

This release restores original MusicScope analysis and display behavior and adds self-contained, single-file desktop packages for all six supported platforms. Application and bundle versions are 1.1.0.

Changes

Synchronized spectrum and waterfall crosshairs (PR #2)

Adds crosshair overlays with frequency in Hz and level in dB. The spectrum shows peak level separately from the cursor-axis reading; the waterfall reads the hovered cell using MAX/AVG/MIN aggregation. Frequency guides stay synchronized between the charts and disappear when the pointer leaves. Existing waterfall buttons are preserved.

CREST and PLR parity (PR #3)

CREST and PLR now use sample-rate-dependent 50 ms blocks, matching the original Java file-analysis pipeline. PLR includes the final partial block using its actual frame count. For the reference high-dynamics sample, readings now match the reported original values: CREST 13.9 and PLR 10.0.

Spectrum range follows bit depth (PR #4)

The spectrum uses a -96 dB range for 16-bit audio and -144 dB for other bit depths. Grid labels, curves, live bars, and cursor readings use the original nonlinear scale and update together when the bit depth changes. Sample rate independently controls the frequency axis.

Frequency Spectrum actions (PR #10)

Enables Linear/Log, separate Left/Right curves, the phase-colored Pano/Phase overlay, and -200 dB Mode. Both FFT modes are captured during analysis, so switching remains available after completion. Hover frequencies stay synchronized with the waterfall, and frequency labels are separate from clickable actions. Resolves issue #5.

Original MusicScope icon (PR #11)

Restores the original XiVero icon in the executable and application window, with macOS bundle metadata and a Linux launcher/icon installer. Native ICO/PNG/ICNS resolutions are preserved; only the 512/1024 pixel Retina variants are upscaled. Adds reproducible icon extraction and publishing instructions. Resolves issue #6.

Single-file releases and executable names (PR #12)

Bundles the .NET runtime and native Avalonia libraries into one executable per OS/architecture. Native libraries extract automatically at startup; managed debugging symbols are embedded and standalone PDBs are omitted. Windows packages contain MusicScope.NET.exe; macOS uses MusicScope.NET inside its .app bundle; Linux uses MusicScope.NET with its launcher and icons. Includes the spectrum merge fixes and updates UI test coordinates to match the current footer layout.

Downloads and installation

Choose the archive matching your operating system and CPU:

Platform x64 ARM64
Windows ZIP ZIP
macOS ZIP ZIP
Linux TAR.GZ TAR.GZ

These packages include the .NET runtime. FFmpeg is still required in PATH or beside the executable for audio file decoding.

  • Windows: extract the ZIP and run MusicScope.NET.exe.
  • macOS: extract the ZIP, copy MusicScope.NET.app to Applications, and launch the bundle. The application is unsigned and not notarized.
  • Linux: extract to a permanent location and run sh ./install-desktop-entry.sh there to install the launcher and icons for the current user. Run the installer again after moving the application.

Verify downloads against SHA256SUMS.txt.

Validation

Release solution build completed with zero warnings or errors; all 66 tests passed. All six platform packages were built and their executable names, architectures, version metadata, archive contents, and Unix executable permissions checked. Windows x64 startup and native-library extraction were smoke-tested. Native macOS/Linux startup and desktop icon display still need verification on those operating systems.
