What’s Brewing: Agent Harness
The idea of an agent harness is quickly becoming a new paradigm in AI—an architectural shift toward systems that can plan, remember, iterate, and collaborate across long‑running analytic tasks. As this concept gains momentum, CRISP‑T is evolving to meet the moment. We’re exploring how CRISP‑T can extend beyond a toolkit for vibe analytics and mixed‑data interpretation into an optional, agentic layer that supports richer, more persistent qualitative sensemaking. This isn’t about replacing human interpretation; it’s about giving analysts a structured, adaptive partner that can help carry the cognitive load of complex inquiry.
By integrating LangChain’s DeepAgent framework, CRISP‑T can begin to support workflows that unfold over time rather than in isolated prompts. DeepAgent’s planning, virtual filesystem, and sub‑agent capabilities create space for qualitative processes that feel more like real analysis: drafting memos, revisiting earlier interpretations, refining themes, comparing cases, and maintaining a living analytic context. Instead of one‑off outputs, the agent can participate in an evolving conversation with the researcher, grounded in the data and shaped by human judgment.
This extension will remain optional, preserving CRISP‑T’s lightweight, approachable core while offering a more powerful mode for those who want it. The vision is a hybrid: a system that feels both practical and aspirational, capable of supporting everyday mixed‑methods work while also opening new possibilities for collaborative, human‑AI sensemaking. As we prototype this agentic module, we’re focusing on moderate technical depth—enough structure to be useful, but not so much that it becomes rigid or prescriptive.
Most importantly, this will remain a community effort. The future of CRISP‑T as an agent harness will be shaped by researchers, developers, practitioners, and anyone who cares about qualitative inquiry in the age of AI. If you’re curious, skeptical, excited, or inspired, we’d love your voice in the conversation. Let’s build this next chapter together.
