Tucky 1.0.28: verified updates and automatic notarized releases
Tucky 1.0.28 improves update validation and recovery, and introduces automatic signed and Apple-notarized GitHub releases.
Install
Requires macOS 14 or later and an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or later).
- Download Tucky-arm64.dmg below.
- Open the DMG and drag Tucky to Applications.
- Open Tucky from Applications and follow onboarding. Speech and AI models download on first use.
Both DMG filenames contain the same signed, Apple-notarized installer. The source-code ZIP and updater archives are not needed for normal installation.
Update
Tucky checks on startup and daily while running. Choose Tucky → Check for Updates or check in Settings → General. Once the update downloads, choose Restart Now. Local data and downloaded models stay in place.
You can also quit Tucky, download the DMG, and drag Tucky into Applications, choosing Replace.
Changes
- The new updater checks the expected version, bundle identifier, Developer ID signing team, deep code signature, and Gatekeeper acceptance before installation.
- It verifies a copied replacement before moving the current app, retains the previous bundle, and restores it if the new app fails to confirm a healthy frontend and packaged sidecars.
- Rejected updates show an error while keeping the current app available.
- Version bumps merged into main now build, sign, notarize, smoke-test, and verify uploaded checksums before making a release public.
- Browser and Windows test failures are resolved. The Windows installer also builds successfully in CI.
The two .tar.gz assets support Tucky and legacy Echo Scribe updaters. SHA-256 checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt. This release does not include an Intel Mac build.

Update an existing installation
Tucky checks for new releases on startup and daily while running. Choose Tucky → Check for Updates or the update button in Settings → General to check immediately. Once the update is downloaded, click Restart now in the update banner. Your local data and downloaded models stay in place.
You can also quit Tucky, download this DMG, and drag Tucky into Applications, choosing Replace.
The two .tar.gz assets support Tucky and legacy Echo Scribe updaters. Keep them with this release.
Verification
Apple accepted the app and DMG. Both have stapled notarization tickets and passed strict signature and Gatekeeper checks. The app inside the finished DMG was verified separately. An isolated installation rendered onboarding and confirmed its packaged sidecars. SHA-256 checksums are in SHA256SUMS.txt.
This release does not include an Intel Mac build.
