Celina 1.0.0

Celina is a quiet, local-first research tool for looking into a topic without logging in as yourself. This release closes out the first full arc: search, watch, produce, and control what it costs.

What's new since 0.1.0

  • Watchlist. Save a search as a watch on an hourly, daily, or specific-times schedule. Celina checks it in the background — even with the window closed, via a single Windows Scheduled Task you approve once — and tells you only when results materially change. A zero-token fingerprint compare runs first; an AI "what changed" summary fires only on real change, and unattended checks default to a local model unless you explicitly opt a watch into the cloud.
  • Notebook Outputs. From a notebook's sources, generate a cited briefing doc, study guide, FAQ, timeline, key-quotes list, summary, or a rendered mind-map/diagram — every claim linked back to [n]. Saved into the notebook, editable, exportable.
  • Token Control. Every model call — chat, tutor, study sets, outputs, search, watch summaries — now runs through one metered local ledger: daily totals only, no prompt text, no per-call history. Set separate daily/monthly caps for quick monitoring vs. deeper analysis work, route each to a provider, and see exactly where the tokens went. Going over a cap blocks the call with an inline "send anyway" prompt — unattended watch checks can never override a budget.

Carried over from 0.1.0

  • Zero-login Scanner across open research, web, recent news, and Wikipedia sources.
  • Grounded answers with citations checked against retrieved content.
  • Local research notes, Library projects, and the Notebook tutor.
  • BYOK support for Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, xAI, or fully local Ollama inference.
  • Windows desktop build with Obscura bundled for cookieless reading.

Important privacy boundary

Celina does not log in as you. Sites see a visitor without your account history, so results are not shaped by that history and visits are not tied to those accounts. Celina does not hide your IP address or provide VPN, proxy, or Tor protection.

Your keys and saved work remain on your machine. With Ollama selected, inference can remain fully local. Watch state and your API keys are sealed at rest with Windows DPAPI. The Token Control ledger records daily token totals only — never prompt or question text.

Install

  1. Download Celina.exe.
  2. Run it on Windows 11 (WebView2 is normally already installed).
  3. Add one model key in the first-run screen, or choose Ollama.
  4. Search a question and keep anything worth returning to.

This build is not code-signed yet, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning on first launch. Select More info, then Run anyway if you trust the download.
