Merlay 0.6.1 — Flowchart syntax robustness, nested subgraph fixes, and canvas DOM hit-testing polish

🔧 Fixes & Polish

  • Flowchart Delimiter & Quote Escaping: Full round-trip parsing and AST support for escaped brackets (e.g. [label \] with bracket]) and quotes inside node labels.
  • Edge Tokenizer & Operator Lookahead: Fixed edge operator disambiguation in the lexer so hyphens in markdown or hyphenated identifiers are never misidentified as connectors.
  • Nested Subgraph Lifecycles & Nesting: Moving nodes into, out of, or between nested groups now cleanly dissolves empty intermediate groups without leaving dangling shells or breaking grandparent nesting.
  • Subgraph Inline Styles: Preserved inline subgraph styles (style <subgraphId> ...) across edits and serializations, including custom fill, border color, and stroke patterns.
  • Edge Reconnection & Reversal: Preserved edge labels, line types (solid, dotted, thick), and arrowheads during interactive drag-reconnections and directional reversals.
  • Canvas Hit-Testing & Prefix Collision Fixes: Fixed an issue where node or cluster IDs that share a prefix (e.g. step and step-2 or group and group-nested) could collide in SVG element matching. Candidate IDs are now sorted descending by length with strict boundary checks.
  • Empty Subgraph Selection: Added text fallback binding so empty or degraded subgraphs without child nodes can still be selected, inspected, and manipulated visually.

BRAT (Beta): Add https://github.com/dev-hashemi/merlay in BRAT → Add Beta plugin.

Manual: Download main.js, manifest.json, and styles.css from the assets below into your vault under .obsidian/plugins/merlay/, then enable Merlay under Settings → Community plugins.

Requires Obsidian 1.4.0 or newer. Desktop and mobile supported.

Install (VS Code)

Install from the VS Code Marketplace or Open VSX, or grab the .vsix attached below → Extensions → … → Install from VSIX.
