Save speed in recorded and favorite tracks

The GPS recorded tracks in My collection already store the elevation data, in case of an accident it is important to also have the speed stored as well. This is also supported in other apps, for example Calimoto. Can you please enable this. By doing this it would also be possible to save the average speed of a tour without needing to analyze the track again.

Also you mentioned: GPX does not support the speed, so it is complicated to save speed in storage. Please create a new thread to discuss it and think it in the future.
Can you please analyze if we have the option maybe in kurviger format or other json Format to also save the speed data in the tracking file in order to be able to load it again as individual file in an other device.

For actual reason this would help me a lot because I am a witness in a heavy accident between a car and a motorcycle and the car driver is lying about the driven speed. It would be absolutely important for me to save my actual tracking data with height and speed data.

Recorded tracks and My Collection / Tracks already store elevation data,
so we can display their track elevation diagrams.

GPX is the compatible format that is supported worldwide by all applications.

GPX does not contain the speed in its specification, so we must use extensions.
Then applications must support these extensions to read all data correctly.

As explained above:

Speed is an extra field, not supported by GPX, so extensions are needed.

Do I have a chance to save the height and speed diagram of an actual tracking in a file which I can import into Cruiser on another device? At the moment I see height AND speed in the track details, when I export it or save it in my collection, only the height data is saved. Can I maybe extract the actual track data from the phone storage? Which folder and file is it? I need this for evidence in an upcoming court case.

When I export the GPS recording, the format is GPX (and you told the speed is not saved), I am asked to include speed, but when I try to open the gpx directly via file commander on the other device with same cruiser latest version b6 I get the error message "invalid file". When I import it via the menu gps recording, then the speed is missing.
Is the answer then that I have no chance to save the speed data? Can you do something that I can do this maybe in a future version?

We will see it, as we need to export a GPX with extensions, as GPX does not support speed.

Please attach the GPX file, so we can check it.

• If you want to import GPX tracks in GPS recording, use the GPS recording / Import menu.

• Opening GPX files with file manager into Cruiser, shows the menu to import the GPX as a route.

I can't provide the file, it will be potentially part of court proceedings and additionally contains personal information which I don't want to share. I don't understand why it is even necessary to share exactly this tracking.

You can reproduce it with any tracking of any cruiser user. If you can manage to export in a way that the speed data are kept in the export file and can be imported again in same format including speed data, then please tell me how this works.

Additional question: normally I don't care for height data, but in this case it could be relevant. I can remember that there were some discussions in the pass about height data beeing inprecise. I didn't read this topic. Therefore the question: how is the height measured? From sea level or anyhow different?

Does it mean that export can save the speed data? If the answer is yes, then it is not working on my device. And it should then be in a different format as gpx because you said that gpx can't save speed data. But how is it working then?

I don't understand the whole discussion.
Never saw speed information in any gpx file. For my opinion the speed can at best be calculated by the time information and the calculated distance between the coordinates.
This is a Cruiser-recorded track - truncated at the first stop: track.gpx.txt

With a python script you are able to calculate the speed between each trkpt:

Although I don't need the speed information in the .gpx file, I did a test out of pure curiosity and found a striking difference. While I was traveling at almost 100 km/h:

the recorded track only reports only 27 km/h:

Strange.

Btw: Are 15 decimal places really necessary? Two more in LAT and LON and I could address individual atoms. 😉

GPS reports the speed in m/s and we store it in the same unit of measurement as with all other GPS reports.

27.78 m/s = 100 km/h
