A new look, and it is the default

Editorial replaces the panelled appearance as what you get out of the box. The dock loses its
bar and the app icons sit on the wallpaper behind a gradient that keeps them readable. The clock
is large and thin, the date spaced small capitals. The TV's inputs stand in a column down the
left edge, the settings and info buttons in a matching one on the right - all the same size, all
resting on the same line as the app icons. The app drawer becomes a single layer over a dimmed
picture instead of two dark panels.

The old appearance is still there. Settings → Clock → Look switches between Editorial and
Classic, and Classic is exactly what the launcher looked like before.

It costs about 0.8 of a percentage point of one CPU core at idle - 5.0% against 4.2% - measured on
an LG 65UR78003LK.

Input icons of our own

The TV's own input artwork is drawn per device, but each file carries its own baked-in
background - a grey square behind one mark, a different grey behind another - so a row of them
never looked like a set. The input shortcuts now use glyphs drawn to one weight in one box with no
background. A console that tells the TV over HDMI-CEC that it is a PlayStation still shows the
PlayStation mark.

Fixed

  • An app name a few pixels wider than its tile lost a letter at each end: "Streaming" has been
reading as "treaming" since the beginning.
  • The settings and info buttons now show their names on hover and focus, like the shortcuts do.

Installing

Download io.github.devic021.openhome_1.1.0_all.ipk, put it on a USB stick, and on the TV use
Homebrew Channel → App Manager → Install from file. Needs a rooted LG webOS TV; see the
readme for the whole setup.

Upgrading keeps your layout and settings.
