Updates now state the WordPress and PHP versions they need. The plugin declares Requires at least: 5.8 and Requires PHP: 7.4. The updater reads each release's own readme.txt ("Requires at least", "Requires PHP", "Tested up to") and passes those to WordPress:
A release that needs newer PHP is shown as "does not work with your version of PHP" and is never auto-updated.
A release that needs newer WordPress isn't offered, the same as on WordPress.org.
Previously these values were hardcoded, and "Tested up to 6.4" flagged the plugin as untested on current WordPress.
