LiveArea NoLimits v1.4.0 raises the home-screen capacity to 500 top-level icons across 50 pages and extends native recovery for applications hidden before the plugin was installed.

Changes

  • Raise the top-level limit from 255 to 500 and the page limit from 26 to 50. Ten icons per page and the separate 1,000 counted-application/content limit remain unchanged.
  • Replace the narrow top-level comparisons with two fixed-size, fully validated instruction blocks. The capacity expansion needs no new hooks, trampolines, database-schema changes, or theme-table expansion.
  • Patch the native SceDbRecovery capacity and page-allocation paths to use the same limits as SceShell, including a top-level admission guard. Validate the recovery module before startup and handle partial-installation rollback and module cleanup.
  • Retain the retail 3.60 icon-cache correction from v1.3.0, including bounded texture residency and pending-widget reload handling.
  • Disable runtime logging in the release artifact. The plugin does not create, truncate, write, or delete its diagnostic log; any old log file is left untouched.

The identified retail 3.60, retail 3.65, and PTEL 3.60 shell profiles are included. The icon-cache correction remains specific to retail 3.60.

Build

Built from commit a73c8c9315ff7359cff60d56d1db44729d6702a3 with:

CMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release
LIVEAREA_ICON_CACHE_TRIAL=ON
LIVEAREA_ICON_CACHE_LOGGING=OFF

The project retains its explicit -O2 optimization level. Module metadata is version 1.4. The final ELF was checked for the absence of diagnostic file-operation symbols and log-path strings.

Verification and limitations

Fresh validation passed for both Release build variants: ASan/UBSan, actual shell and recovery firmware-byte checks, corrupted-byte rejection, partial-installation rollback, native recovery instructions, cache regressions, and taiHEN relocation checks. Each variant passed 33,942 native ARM shell checks, covering complete admission/message functions, 255/256 and 499/500 boundaries, query errors, and page limits. External LSDB calls are stubbed in the ARM harness; these are not complete database/UI tests.

The 500-icon/50-page build has not yet been tested on hardware. The earlier 255-icon recovery build completed a normal boot on the local retail 3.60 Vita with an unchanged layout database. That Vita had no hidden applications, so restoration of an existing hidden-app library was not exercised. Large-library rendering on retail 3.65 and PTEL is also not hardware-verified.

Installation

Replace ur0:/tai/livearea_nolimits.suprx at the existing *main configuration entry and perform a full reboot. Standby does not activate the update. Keep backups of the plugin, configuration, and layout database. Do not reinstall applications or manually rebuild the database as a prerequisite for the recovery fix. Applications can still remain hidden when the configured top-level or counted-icon capacity is exhausted.

Artifact

livearea_nolimits.suprx - 10,302 bytes, Release mode, logging disabled.
