Classic maps lit by Unreal: headlights and shadows on the ground
Vehicle headlights and other game lights now light the classic maps' ground and walls, and no longer turn players and vehicles white.
Needs the CE runtime pack 1.3.0 and the 1.2.0 classic map packs.
Added
- Unreal-lit terrain (MJOLNIRLevelLoader 0.4.0). The classic maps'
ground, walls and bases are now lit by Unreal Engine's lights while
keeping Halo CE's colours and soft shade. A Warthog's headlights light the
road and the rock in front of it, and players and vehicles cast shadows on
the ground. CE's bump maps give the surfaces their detail under those
lights, and corners keep their baked shading. - Halo CE's shade, per map. Each 1.2.0 map pack carries a sun mask
traced from its Halo CE lightmap, so the sun stays out of the passages and
overhangs Halo CE kept in shade, and players standing there are shaded too.
Changed
- Lights at their real strength (MJOLNIRLevelLoader 0.4.0). The classic
maps' sun and sky are scaled up to the brightness the campaign uses, with
the exposure brought down to match, so the maps look the same as before but
the game's own lights are no longer far brighter than the sun. Headlights
used to turn nearby players, vehicles and weapons white. - Solo test games started with
mjolnir_auto host <CODE> <mode> privatestay
off FIND GAMES (MJOLNIRLobby 0.8.1).
Fixed
- Quitting from inside a multiplayer match closes the game. The window used
to close while the process kept running in the background. - Gephyrophobia's teleporters send players again. Every pad was blocked
because the landing spots were too tight for a Spartan; the 1.2.0 map pack
moves them back onto the pads.
Known issues
- Some cliff shadows have sharper edges than in Halo CE.
The signed set of UE4SS script mods. Every artifact's hash is in
manifest.json, and manifest.json.sig is its Ed25519 signature
over the manifest — verify with keys/mod-signing.pub from this
repository. The launcher does this automatically and installs
nothing that fails verification.
