What it is

An image viewer the way it used to feel. No library to import into. No catalog. No "would you like to sync." Open any image and you are already browsing its folder.

• Spin the wheel. Roll your mouse wheel to flip through every image in a folder. Hold ⌘ and scroll to zoom. Pinch on the trackpad if you've moved on.
• Open an image, that's the library. Sort by name, date, or size, and reverse it whenever you want.
• Every format that matters. JPEG, PNG, HEIC, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, PSD, and camera RAW from Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, Panasonic, Olympus, Pentax, Sigma, Hasselblad, Leica and more.
• Quietly native. Built in AppKit for modern macOS. Light, quick, and yours — no account, no telemetry, no cloud.

Requirements

macOS 15 (Sequoia) or later. Apple Silicon or Intel.

Install

1. Download Northlight.zip from the latest release.
2. Unzip and drag Northlight.app to /Applications.
3. Double-click to launch.

The app is signed and notarized by Apple (Developer ID: DGTL TECH LLC), so Gatekeeper opens it without warnings.

Privacy

Northlight does not collect, transmit, or store any data. Files stay on your Mac.
