Major release introducing comprehensive AI-native capabilities to make EdgarTools the most learner-friendly and AI-agent-friendly SEC data library.

AI-Native Object Documentation

Every major EdgarTools object now includes rich, searchable documentation via the .docs property:

  • 3,450+ lines of comprehensive API documentation
  • Built-in BM25 search for finding relevant information instantly
  • .text() methods for token-efficient AI agent context
  • Progressive disclosure with three detail levels (minimal/standard/detailed)

MCP Server Consolidation

Streamlined Model Context Protocol implementation:

  • Consolidated 3 duplicate implementations into unified edgar/ai/mcp/ subpackage
  • Removed 1,544 lines of duplicate code
  • Backward compatibility maintained via deprecation stubs
  • Single source of truth for easier maintenance

🐛 Bug Fixes

  • Issue #459: Fixed crash when stitching filings including pre-2009 (pre-XBRL) filings
  • XBRLS: Fixed filter_amendments parameter handling in XBRLS.from_filings()

Zero breaking changes - all existing APIs remain fully compatible. MCP imports maintain backward compatibility via deprecation warnings.
