v5.23.2
Fix: Concepts silently dropped from financial statements (GH-703)
Removed the same-label merge heuristic (_merge_sibling_concept_switches) that was silently dropping concepts from all statement types — not just equity components.
The heuristic was originally introduced for GH-572 (cosmetic duplicate rows in AAPL's comprehensive income). Every attempt to guard it introduced new false positives. The merge is fundamentally unsound: "same label + same parent" does not prove "same line item."
What changed
- Removed
_merge_sibling_concept_switchesand its call site entirely - No concepts are merged or dropped during statement rendering
- XBRL concept-switch duplicates (same label, different periods) are preserved as separate rows
Trade-off
- Fixed: Concepts like
us-gaap:ProceedsFromPreviousAcquisition,us-gaap:UnusualOrInfrequentItemGainGross, and company-extension PPE concepts are no longer silently dropped - Cosmetic regression: Statements where a company switched XBRL concepts between fiscal years may show duplicate-label rows with partial period values (data correctness over cosmetics)
