Emulator SCCM Retro
Systems: multi-system (preconfigured Linux build) · Runs as: Linux partition, booted from a homebrew launcher · Get it: SCCM guides
SCCM-Retro is SoCal Console Modding's preconfigured retro-gaming build. Unlike the NRO emulators on this wiki, it doesn't run inside Horizon at all — it lives on its own Linux partition on your SD card and takes over the console when booted. Cover art, save states, and cheats come preconfigured; games do not.
The catch for HaulNX users: its ROMs live on the Linux partition, not the FAT32 side where HaulNX downloads to. There's one extra copy step, covered below.
Follow the official guide — it's the authority here and the tooling updates regularly: How to Install SCCM Retro.
- On a Windows PC, use the free SCCM Switch Toolbox (Format tab) to add a Linux partition of at least 40 GB to your SD card — use Preserve mode so your existing homebrew/FAT32 data survives.
- Use the Toolbox Restore tab to write the SCCM-Retro
.sccmbakbuild onto that partition. - Back in the Switch homebrew menu you'll find a small launcher NRO. Run it (from CFW sysMMC or emuMMC) for the first boot — it carries your Bluetooth controller pairings and saved Wi-Fi networks over into the Linux side.
HaulNX writes to sd:/roms/<console>/ on the FAT32 partition; SCCM-Retro reads from the Linux partition. The two filesystems can't see each other directly, so you sync:
- Follow SCCM's own Add ROMs and BIOS guide (linked from the install guide) for the supported transfer methods — network transfer from a PC while SCCM-Retro is running, or copying onto the Linux partition from a PC that can mount it.
- HaulNX's folder names (
snes, gba, psx, ...) map onto the usual per-system folder scheme retro builds use, so transfers are mostly drag-the-folder-across. Where SCCM-Retro's system folder names differ, match its names — the folder table on the hub page tells you what each HaulNX slug contains. - Rescan/refresh the game list inside SCCM-Retro after adding files.
Tip: if you use both worlds regularly, consider treating the FAT32
sd:/romslibrary as your master copy — download and organize with HaulNX, then sync to the Linux partition in batches.
- Your CFW/homebrew setup on the FAT32 partition is untouched; SCCM-Retro only occupies its own partition. Exit/reboot to get back to Horizon.
- SD card space is committed up front: the 40 GB+ Linux partition is invisible to Horizon and to HaulNX, so plan card capacity with both libraries in mind (ROMs synced to SCCM-Retro effectively exist twice).
- If a Toolbox update or re-partition is ever needed, back up first — partition operations are the riskiest thing on this page.
