Emulator pSNES pNES

Systems: Super Nintendo (snes) / NES (nes) · Runs as: homebrew NROs · Get it: Cpasjuste's pEMU releases — see the pSNES GameBrew page

pSNES and pNES are standalone SNES and NES emulators from Cpasjuste's pEMU family — the same shell as pFBN, wrapped around proven cores (pSNES is built on Snes9x). You get a clean full-screen game list with box art and dead-simple configuration, without pulling in all of RetroArch.

Worth knowing: the RetroArch cores (Snes9x / Mesen / FCEUmm) cover the same ground with more options; the pEMU apps win on simplicity and boot-straight-into-a-game-list feel. Run whichever fits how you play.

Install

  1. Download the Switch builds and extract to the SD card: sd:/switch/psnes/ and/or sd:/switch/pnes/ (each contains its .nro plus data files).
  2. Default ROM locations are sd:/switch/psnes/roms/ and sd:/switch/pnes/roms/.
  3. Launch from the homebrew menu.

Point it at your HaulNX library

Same two options as the rest of the pEMU family:

  • Change the ROM path in the app's options menu (or its .cfg file in the app folder) to HaulNX's folders: sd:/roms/snes for pSNES, sd:/roms/nes for pNES.
  • Or copy games across with HaulNX's file browser (Settings › Manage data) into the default roms/ folders.

Refresh/rescan the game list from the menu after adding files.

Format notes

  • Zipped ROMs load fine — no unzipping needed for either app.
  • No BIOS files required for SNES or NES.
  • FDS (Famicom Disk System) content is better served by the FCEUmm/Mesen cores in RetroArch with disksys.rom — keep sd:/roms/fds pointed there.

Tips

  • Both apps support save states, per-game overrides, and shader/scaling options from the in-game menu.
  • Box-art previews follow pEMU's media layout; the game list works fine without them if you don't want to bother.
