DeskMux v0.1.0 · First public preview

Two Macs. One flow. DeskMux joins Dion Labs as an open-source macOS utility,
with Mux, our original twin-tailed lynx, as its companion.

  • Native Logitech HID++ mouse channel switching, with keyboard following.
  • Configurable edge handoff: push-and-dwell or hold a modifier and touch the edge.
  • Bidirectional plain-text clipboard sharing (up to 1 MiB).
  • Guided permissions, launch at login, connection status and peer updates.
  • Refined menu-bar mark, application icon and settings identity.
  • Experimental virtual-display streaming; physical monitor switching is not implemented.

Install

Download the ZIP below and move DeskMux.app into Applications on both Macs.
Follow the setup guide.
Use matching builds on both computers.

This package is Apple silicon only. macOS 14 is the deployment target;
the real-desk validation used macOS 26.5.2 and an MX Master 4. Other Logitech
HID++ devices and older macOS versions are not broadly validated.

Signing: Apple Development signed, not notarized. Gatekeeper may require
an explicit approval in Privacy & Security after attempting to open the app.
Do not disable Gatekeeper globally. Review the source or build it yourself if
you do not want to approve an unnotarized preview.

Use only with trusted Macs on a trusted local network. Read the
security limitations
before sharing keyboard input or clipboard content.

Validation

96 local automated tests passed. The optimized app package passed strict
code-signature and archive integrity validation. SHA-256 checksums accompany
the archive. This release does not replace the need for compatibility testing
on additional real desks.
