PALA V1 turns a five-axis desk lamp into an expressive desk companion: noticing, greeting, thumbs-up excitement, directional pointing, and breathing at rest.

Watch the demo

Download pala-v1-demo.mp4 below (1 minute 47 seconds). The film combines physical demonstration, lamp POV, mechanism details, and simulator views. Joint charts reconstruct commanded motion; they are not measured servo feedback.

What's included

  • Supervised Gemini snapshot observations with deterministic local gesture execution.
  • Accepted desk performances, optional POV recording, simulator and operator tools.
  • Calibration target validation, recreation guidance, and updated architecture documentation.
  • MIT-licensed software and textual documentation; media and CAD have separate scope as documented in docs/licensing.md.

Verification and boundaries

361 software tests passed, with clean Mac dummy-runtime startup/shutdown. Physical performances were reviewed by the operator; software tests do not establish mechanical safety. This is a supervised prototype with variable model latency, constrained camera framing, and no measured servo feedback. Exact build details and the full CAD package remain pending and are identified in the recreation guide.

The source is tagged at the V1 release commit. Large production files remain outside Git history; this release asset is the approved portfolio master.
