DNBRADIO 0.3.1

Choose a tag to compare

@keybrdist keybrdist released this 25 Oct 18:30
91f6081

Fixes playback stopping about 25 seconds after you press Play on Linux (Flatpak) and Windows, with "Connection timed out · press Play to retry" (#10). It affected live stations and recorded mixes resumed partway through. macOS and the Omarchy plugin weren't affected. The same downloads and install steps are on dnbradio.com/apps.

Downloads

  • Apple Silicon Mac: dnbradio-0.3.1-macos-arm64.zip, for macOS 26 or later. Unzip it outside iCloud Drive and move DNBRADIO.app to Applications. The app is ad hoc signed and not notarized, so the first time you open it, go to System Settings, choose Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  • Windows x86_64: dnbradio-0.3.1-windows-x86_64.zip, for 64-bit Windows 10 (1809 or newer) or Windows 11. Extract the whole ZIP and run DNBRADIO\dnbradio.exe. The build isn't code-signed, so if SmartScreen warns you, click More info, then Run anyway.
  • Linux x86_64: dnbradio-0.3.1-linux-x86_64.flatpak. With Flathub configured, run flatpak install --user ./dnbradio-0.3.1-linux-x86_64.flatpak.
  • Omarchy: dnbradio-omarchy-0.5.0.tar.gz, unchanged from 0.3.0, for Omarchy 4.0.4 or later. In your desktop session, run tar -xzf dnbradio-omarchy-0.5.0.tar.gz, then python3 omarchy/install.py.

Updating keeps your library and settings, because they live outside the app folder. Quit the old version first.

Checks

SHA256SUMS lists the hash of every package. RELEASE-PROVENANCE.json names the source commit, the CI run, the runtime versions and what was tested. The Windows ZIP and the Flatpak come from the CI run for the release commit, which adds a regression test for this fix on Linux and on the packaged Windows build. The macOS ZIP was packaged from the same commit with Homebrew Qt 6.11.1, and its test build passed live HTTPS MP3 and AAC startup, restart and prebuffer checks on Apple Silicon. Automated playback checks verify progress and controls, not audible output.

What's new

  • The player and the Omarchy plugin are now free software under the GNU General Public License, version 3 or later.
  • Omarchy plugin 0.5.0 shows verified "Label: …" links in song history, and a "Buy release" link when the station has no link for the track.
  • The macOS app no longer bundles the Qt Quick Timeline modules it never used.

Fixed in 0.3.1

On Linux (Flatpak) and Windows, playback could stop about 25 seconds after you pressed Play, with "Connection timed out · press Play to retry" (#10). 0.3.1 fixes it, so download that version instead.

DNBRADIO 0.2.2 — Private desktop preview

Choose a tag to compare

@keybrdist keybrdist released this 20 Oct 09:35
bd70030

Private preview fixing repeated brief cutouts in DNBRADIO’s 320K MP3 stream on macOS.

The player now loads the stream for 2.5 seconds before starting audio, including after Pause/Play. It shows “Buffering live audio…” during that wait. Pause, errors, station/quality changes, and Quit cancel a pending start.

The owner confirmed that the test build eliminated the repeated 10–50 ms hiccups on an M2 Mac running macOS 26.5.2. Extra startup buffering is the verified mitigation; the exact underlying AVFoundation timing fault is not established. The 128K AAC stream, recordings, other stations, Windows, and Linux retain their existing startup behavior.

Downloads

  • Apple Silicon Mac: dnbradio-0.2.2-macos-arm64.zip, macOS 26+. Quit the old player, extract outside Sync, and move DNBRADIO.app to Applications. Ad hoc signed, not notarized.
  • Windows x86_64: dnbradio-0.2.2-windows-x86_64.zip, Windows 10 1809+ / Windows 11. Extract the entire ZIP and run DNBRADIO/dnbradio.exe. Unsigned portable preview.
  • Linux x86_64: dnbradio-0.2.2-linux-x86_64.flatpak. With Flathub configured: flatpak install --user ./dnbradio-0.2.2-linux-x86_64.flatpak.

Library and settings remain in the existing application data location. The optional Omarchy plugin remains 0.4.0. Earlier releases and tags are preserved.

SHA256SUMS records package hashes. RELEASE-PROVENANCE.json identifies the exact source revision, build jobs, runtime dependencies, and validation limits. Automated muted playback checks verify startup and controls, not the absence of audible cutouts on every system.

Source: bd700302996db63527d66ad5e86d8cd508af213b. Build and package checks.

The final Mac ZIP passed production startup, signature, prebuffer/cancellation, real HTTPS MP3/AAC startup and Pause/Play, and recorded-mix seeking/resume checks on the M2 Air running macOS 26.5.2. The installed application was left unchanged.

DNBRADIO 0.2.1 — Private desktop preview

Choose a tag to compare

@keybrdist keybrdist released this 18 Oct 00:04
8a07f1a

Private desktop preview with playback recovery fixes and clearer library/live controls.

  • Recorded mixes: Play retries a failed backend while preserving the selected mix and resume position. Full and mini players use the same recovery path.
  • Live radio: Pause/Play opens a fresh connection, fixing the macOS restart hang reproduced on the M2 Air.
  • My Library: explicit Save and Remove controls.
  • Back to live: a prominent control beside Play/Pause in both players.

Downloads

  • Apple Silicon Mac (M1, M2 and later): dnbradio-0.2.1-macos-arm64.zip, macOS 26 or later. Extract outside cloud-sync folders and move DNBRADIO.app to Applications. This preview is ad hoc signed and not notarized. If blocked on first launch, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway for this app. Intel Macs are not included.
  • Windows x86_64: dnbradio-0.2.1-windows-x86_64.zip, Windows 10 (1809+) or Windows 11. Extract the entire ZIP and run DNBRADIO/dnbradio.exe. Qt, FFmpeg, and the Visual C++ runtime are bundled. The preview is unsigned. No administrator access or installer is required.
  • Linux x86_64: dnbradio-0.2.1-linux-x86_64.flatpak. With Flathub configured, run flatpak install --user ./dnbradio-0.2.1-linux-x86_64.flatpak, then flatpak run com.dnbradio.Player.

Quit any running older copy before launching the new one. There is no automatic updater. Library/settings remain in their existing application data location. Older release assets are preserved. The optional Omarchy plugin remains version 0.4.0 in the v0.2.0 release.

Source and validation

All three packages use 8a07f1a35fd00285dd7985f1b233a43c18ad5ce5. Changes were reviewed and merged through PRs #4, #5, #6, and #7. Final-source CI covers native platform/storage tests, Linux UI/tray and installed Flatpak startup, macOS live restart, and extracted Windows package checks.

The Windows package was exercised on GitHub Actions Windows Server 2022, including app-local DLL checks, production test-loader exclusion, deterministic archive retry through full/mini controls, pause/source-change negative cases, seeking/resume, library controls, tray behavior, real live MP3/AAC, and the Random Renegade 2026-10-16 recording. This does not establish an exact Windows 10 22H2 reproduction or audible-output validation.

The Mac ZIP passed bundled dependency/minimum-OS and strict signature checks after extraction, production startup and test-loader exclusion, and playback/control tests with the same bundled runtime. The final ZIP also passed startup and live/recorded playback controls on the M2 Air running macOS 26.5.2. The live restart regression failed before the fix and passed afterward on the M2 Air. The owner reported the candidate now seems fine. The separate report of initial 320K skipping was not reproduced in muted traces; its cause remains unconfirmed and no prebuffering setting was changed.

SHA256SUMS contains package hashes. RELEASE-PROVENANCE.json records exact source, runtime/dependency versions, package hashes, and validation evidence.

Windows tester check

  1. Quit the old player, extract the new ZIP, and start a recorded mix.
  2. If playback fails, press Play directly in the full or mini player. It should resume the same mix near the saved position without a manual seek.
  3. Check that Pause stays paused, seeking works, and Back to live returns to the station. Try Save and Remove under My Library.

Windows 10/11 desktop and audible playback confirmation remain a tester step. Exact Mint/Cinnamon and Wayland desktop behavior also remains outside CI coverage.

DNBRADIO 0.2.0 — Private desktop preview

Choose a tag to compare

@keybrdist keybrdist released this 17 Oct 11:31
5be4dae

Private preview with a shared tray mini player on Linux and macOS, readable dropdowns, and DNBRADIO app/tray icons.

  • Click the tray/menu-bar logo for playback, stations, quality, volume/mute, recent mixes, history, and navigation.
  • Closing the full window keeps playback running when a tray is available. Choose Quit to exit. Without a tray, closing the window quits.
  • Linux offers Mini player, Open player, and Quit in its tray menu. If the desktop panel disappears, the full player reopens.
  • No playback starts automatically. The standalone library stays separate from the Omarchy plugin.

Linux x86_64

Download dnbradio-0.2.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak and SHA256SUMS.

sha256sum --check --ignore-missing SHA256SUMS
flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install --user ./dnbradio-0.2.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run com.dnbradio.Player

Linux Mint 22.3 Cinnamon/X11 is the initial tester target. Native tray behavior was exercised on Linux X11 with Openbox/trayer. Exact Cinnamon and Wayland behavior still needs tester feedback; Wayland controls panel placement.

Apple Silicon macOS

Download dnbradio-0.2.0-macos-arm64.zip. Requires macOS 26 or later. Extract the ZIP outside cloud-sync folders, then move DNBRADIO.app to Applications.

This private build is ad hoc signed and not notarized. If macOS blocks its first launch, use System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway for this app. Intel Macs are not included.

Optional Omarchy plugin

dnbradio-omarchy-0.4.0.tar.gz contains the unchanged Omarchy integration, assembled from this release's source. Extract it on Omarchy and follow its README. It is separate from the standalone Linux Flatpak.

There is no automatic updater. Label URL enrichment remains separate work.

Windows x86_64

Download dnbradio-0.2.0-windows-x86_64.zip and SHA256SUMS-windows. Extract the entire ZIP, then run DNBRADIO/dnbradio.exe. Requires 64-bit Windows 10 (1809+) or Windows 11. Qt, audio codecs, and the Visual C++ runtime are bundled. No installer or administrator access is required.

The notification-area icon opens the mini player. Closing the full window keeps playback running; right-click the icon and choose Quit to exit. Windows may place the icon in its hidden-icons menu. This private preview is unsigned and may display an unknown publisher warning.

Windows packaging, tray support, and sizing for small desktops were added after the original v0.2.0 tag. BUILD-INFO.json inside the ZIP identifies the exact Windows source commit. The existing Linux, macOS, and Omarchy packages remain unchanged.

Windows package validation runs on Server 2022: extracted-ZIP startup, bundled DLL origins, taskbar-safe window bounds, UI/audio fixtures, tray mini-player controls, and live HTTPS MP3/AAC. Windows 10/11 desktop and audible-output feedback remains a tester step.

Windows source: fdfd20d926893b0383307eab2c5bcfabc8234fde, merged as d2cca937 through PR #3. Package verification run.

DNBRADIO 0.1.0 — Private Linux preview

Choose a tag to compare

@keybrdist keybrdist released this 17 Oct 09:26
f029bd1

First private preview of the standalone DNBRADIO desktop player.

Linux x86_64 is the downloadable target. Initial tester environment: Linux Mint 22.3, Cinnamon, X11. The app includes six stations, recorded mixes and details, DJ profiles, schedule/reminders, favorites/resume, song history, purchase links supplied by metadata, and contributors/donation links.

Download dnbradio-0.1.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak and SHA256SUMS into the same directory:

sha256sum --check SHA256SUMS
flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists flathub https://flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak install --user ./dnbradio-0.1.0-linux-x86_64.flatpak
flatpak run com.dnbradio.Player

Minimize to keep listening. Closing the window quits playback and saves positions. Reminders run while the app is open. The standalone library is separate from the existing Omarchy library.

The optional Omarchy plugin archive is version 0.4.0, assembled from this source. Extract it on Omarchy and follow its README; it is not the Mint application.

Windows and macOS are development build/test targets; installers come later. Label URL enrichment is deferred. Actual Mint/Cinnamon desktop feedback is still needed after installation. Keep this preview private.
