QuickTTY 0.1.0-alpha.2

First public alpha of QuickTTY, a native terminal for macOS built with Swift, AppKit, and embedded Ghostty.

Highlights

  • Normal and drop-down Quake presentation modes without restarting shell processes
  • Tabs, recursive split panes, pane navigation, and named workspaces
  • Broadcast input within the active tab
  • Workspace, tab, split layout, CWD, and window-frame persistence
  • Text configuration with hot reload, an in-terminal config editor, and inline diagnostics
  • Bundled Ghostty terminfo, shell integration, themes, and third-party notices
  • Native Apple Silicon build with a new QuickTTY application icon

Requirements

  • macOS 15 or later
  • Apple Silicon (arm64) only

Installation

  1. Download QuickTTY-0.1.0-alpha.2-arm64.dmg.
  2. Open the DMG and copy QuickTTY to Applications.
  3. Launch QuickTTY normally. The DMG is signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and has a stapled ticket.

QuickTTY starts with its own clean configuration and state:

  • ~/.config/quicktty/config
  • ~/Library/Application Support/QuickTTY/state.json

No data is migrated from earlier GhostTerm development builds.

Known limitations

  • This is an alpha release and currently supports only Apple Silicon.
  • Restored panes start fresh shells; saved custom commands are not executed automatically.
  • Application shortcuts are not yet fully configurable.
  • The app is distributed outside the Mac App Store and is not sandboxed.
