QuickTTY 0.1.0-beta.1

QuickTTY is a native terminal for macOS built with Swift, AppKit, and embedded Ghostty.

What’s new since alpha.2

  • Configurable QuickTTY shortcuts with typed actions, conflict resolution, disabled assignments, and preserved ordinary terminal input
  • Native Cmd+hover and Cmd+click URL opening powered by Ghostty link detection, including custom schemes and file paths
  • Dynamic tab titles from terminal applications, plus manual inline tab renaming
  • Clear active-pane presentation using Ghostty-style inactive split dimming and native focused/unfocused terminal cursors
  • Surface failure recovery with inline Terminal unavailable, Retry, and Close Pane actions
  • Improved workspace, tab, split, Quake-mode, and hot-reload integration without restarting live shell processes

Existing capabilities

  • Mutually exclusive Normal and drop-down Quake presentation modes
  • Tabs, recursive split panes, pane navigation, and named workspaces
  • Broadcast input within the active tab
  • Workspace, tab, split layout, CWD, title override, and window-frame persistence
  • Text configuration with hot reload, an in-terminal config editor, and inline diagnostics
  • Bundled Ghostty terminfo, shell integration, themes, and third-party notices

Requirements

  • macOS 15 or later
  • Apple Silicon (arm64) only

Installation

  1. Download QuickTTY-0.1.0-beta.1-arm64.dmg.
  2. Open the DMG and copy QuickTTY to Applications.
  3. Launch QuickTTY normally. The DMG is signed with Developer ID, notarized by Apple, and has a stapled ticket.

QuickTTY uses:

  • ~/.config/quicktty/config
  • ~/Library/Application Support/QuickTTY/state.json

No data is migrated from earlier GhostTerm development builds.

Known limitations

  • Apple Silicon only; Intel Macs are not supported.
  • Restored panes start fresh shells; saved custom commands are not executed automatically.
  • Interactive terminal search and structured agent-status integration are not included yet.
  • QuickTTY is distributed outside the Mac App Store and is not sandboxed.
