Improved version-control correctness, SQL compatibility, and performance for index operations and remote reads.

Reliability and correctness

• Fixed schema merges involving dropped or renamed columns, indexes, and conflicts.
• Corrected rename staging, historical queries, workspace results, and reset behavior.
• Added dolt_checkout('-B', ...) and remote branch deletion; improved push retries and busy-timeout handling.
• Fixed descending-index queries, transaction-state reporting, and small max_page_count settings blocking writes.

Performance and testing

• Accelerated index builds, bulk updates, index reads, and savepoint rollback.
• Reused HTTP connections for lazy remote reads.
• Expanded regression coverage and tightened SQL parity and benchmark checks.
