AnaHD 0.1.1: a new look matching dvsalas.com, and the recording's sound in the output.

New in 0.1.1

  • The app now matches the site look
  • Outputs keep the recording's sound, in sync with the picture, also after cuts and
when parts are joined or exported separately.
  • .ts recordings open and clean again ("could not count frames" is fixed).
  • The settings panel is never cut off on the right.

AnaHD makes clean HD video from analog FPV goggle DVR recordings, offline, on an NVIDIA
GPU.

Install: download AnaHD-0.1.1-setup.exe below and run it. It installs for your user
(no admin rights) with everything it needs (FFmpeg, PyTorch's CUDA libraries, the model);
nothing else is downloaded. Uninstall from the Start menu or Windows' Apps list.

Needs: Windows 10/11 64-bit; an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 16 or RTX 20 series card or newer
(RTX 30, 40 and 50 included) with a current driver (CUDA 12.8; only an RTX 4070 Ti has been
tested; GTX 10 series and older are not supported); about 7 GB of free memory (RAM plus page file) while
a clip is cleaned; about 5 GB of disk.

Please read: built for one pilot's gear

AnaHD is a personal tool, shared as is. Its Learned cleaning (the default) was trained
on one camera (BetaFPV C03), one analog link and one goggle DVR (1280x720, 60 fps, 4:3
picture between black bars). On other cameras, VTXs or DVRs it runs, but the look may be
off: over-smoothed, invented texture, shifted colour. Try it on a short clip first (cut
the rest) and compare it with the Classic cleaning (bottom of the window), which is
hand-made and behaves the same on any analog recording. Keep whichever looks better.

  • OSD protection works with any burned-in OSD (it finds overlay that stays put).
  • SD DVRs (720x480, 720x576 at 50 fps, 640x480 MJPEG) come out at the right 4:3 shape.
  • Clips without an OSD are taken for digital recordings and left out of cleaning. If
you fly analog without OSD, press Include anyway on them.

What it does

  • Repairs breakup bands, colour snow and lost colour from the neighbouring frames;
cleans the noise; upscales to 1440x1080 (4:3) or 1920x1080 (16:9) at the recording's
frame rate; keeps the OSD sharp.
  • Desktop app: preview, cut markers (exact times, half-second steps), one file per clip or
one per kept part, before/after comparison of the results. Keeps working in the tray
when you close the window; never quits by itself.
  • Remaster settings: a lens colour fix and a film-style look (on by default), colour
sliders, and optional stabilisation, sharpening, SuperView and motion blur, with a
before/after preview of the paused frame and each effect's speed cost.
  • 21.9 fps on an RTX 4070 Ti with the default settings: a 3-minute flight in about 8.4
    minutes, start-up and encoding included.
  • Outputs AnaHD_<name>.mp4; never overwrites anything and never changes your recordings.

Known limitations

  • Very fast flips (around 720°/s): the motion is kept exactly, but edges smear and fine
texture flattens, slightly worse than a plain upscale.
  • Faint dark halos along hard edges with the Learned cleaning.
  • Breakup longer than 3 frames is not rebuilt.

Details, measurements and the source: see the README.
