It took a bit to figure out jpackage, so this is the first time I've been able to a ready to use installer. Please note that this app is still in major version zero and is far from complete. That said, it supports a quite a few things:

  • Home Page:
    • Connecting to both the local & remote Syncthing instance (used just to know which folders are Syncthing folders)
    • Connecting to a remote server over SSH (for file transfers)
    • Testing connections before proceeding to the next page
    • All connection info (except password) is saved to a local file
  • Picker Page:
    • Selecting a folder
    • Viewing all files (both local AND remote) that are in that folder
    • Viewing different versions of each files (only relevant if the local or remote machine uses some form of versioning)
    • Opening any version file directly (remote files are copied to a local temp directory)
    • Restoring previous version to be the new current file
    • Restoring an entire folder to the last versioned file

Known Bugs:

  • Some files are incorrectly labeled as not existing on the local machine after the tree is changed
  • The main dropdown appears at the top of the screen the first time it is used
  • Failed SSH connections may not properly terminate
  • The UI is so ugly I'm going to consider that a bug too

Contents

  • SyncthingVersionPicker-0.2.msi is an installer for windows
  • SyncthingVersionPicker-0.2.zip is a zip file containing the main application along with the necessary java files

I have yet to figure out building linux or mac installers, though if you are dedicated enough, the project should be able to produce those.

There is no stand-alone exe available yet.
