DriftDroid for Nintendo Switch - Beta 1
Pre-release
Pre-release
Mario Kart Wii, statically recompiled, running natively on the Nintendo Switch. This is the first
public Switch build. It is a beta: expect rough edges.
What you need
- A Nintendo Switch with custom firmware (Atmosphère) and the Homebrew Menu.
- Your own copy of Mario Kart Wii, PAL version (game ID
RMCP01) as an.isoor.wbfsfile.
No game files are included. Other regions are not supported yet. - About 3 GB free on the SD card (plus room for the disc image while you install).
Install
- Copy
DriftDroid.nroto/switch/WiiCompiled/on your SD card. - Copy your disc image anywhere on the SD card (for example
/switch/WiiCompiled/Games/or/wbfs/).
On FAT32 cards use.wbfs(split.wbfs+.wbf1files work); an.isois over 4 GB. - Start DriftDroid through title override (hold R while opening a game), not from the album.
It needs the full memory. - Choose Import game, pick your disc image, and wait about 6 minutes. Then press Play.
After installing you can delete the disc image to get the space back.
Controls
- Launcher: D-pad or left stick, A to select, B to go back.
- In game: press both sticks in (Left Stick + Right Stick) to open the settings panel. DPAD to navigate.
Updating
Replace DriftDroid.nro with the new one. That is all - never delete the DATA or NAND folders;
they hold your installed game and your save.
Performance
Measured on one console; yours may differ.
| Stock clock | Overclocked (sys-clk, maximum) | |
|---|---|---|
| Time Trials | 50-60 FPS | 60 FPS |
| 12-kart race (Grand Prix / VS) | about 30 FPS | about 55 FPS (dips to ~50) |
Full races are limited by the CPU. An overclock is recommended for Grand Prix.
Not in this beta
- Online play.
- Retro Rewind and other mods.
- Touch controls.
- Regions other than PAL.
Known issues
- The first seconds of a new track can stutter while shaders are prepared.
- A short hitch at the start and end of a race.
