DriftDroid v1.1.0
A feature release building on v1.0.0: mod support, a launcher redesign, and a real WBFS import bug fix.
A note on the icon
The placeholder AI-generated icon from v1.0.0 is gone - this release ships a proper custom app
icon and wordmark logo instead. Thanks for your patience.
What's new since v1.0.0
- Mod support: import Riivolution-shaped
.zipmods (texture packs, character/vehicle model
swaps, UI skins) straight from the launcher screen. Enable/disable and delete individual mods,
and drag to reorder priority when two mods replace the same file. Loose single-file mods with no
riivolution/*.xml(common for simple GameBanana downloads) are matched against the disc by
filename automatically. - WBFS import fixed: importing a
.wbfsfile (rather than a raw.iso) failed for most real
files with an "unexpected end of file" error. Root-caused and fixed against Dolphin's own
DiscIO/WbfsBlob.cpp reference implementation - two real bugs in the from-scratch WBFS parser
(a wrong sector-size formula, and the block table being read from the wrong offset). The launcher
now also says "Install with ISO/WBFS" instead of just "ISO" to reflect this. - Launcher redesign: new app icon and DriftDroid wordmark logo, a dark gray checkerboard
background, a springier press animation on every channel tile, and a UI click sound. - Removed a leftover diagnostic (draw-call counter) from the in-game FPS overlay, and moved the
"N shaders compiling" indicator away from the screen edge where it was easy to miss.
Known limitations
- Music ducking (muting game music while other apps play audio) is still not implemented on
Android - unchanged from v1.0.0. - The exact defect behind an earlier combined-library bug (Original's steering not blocking during
the pre-race countdown) hasn't been root-caused yet - Original now runs its own standalone
library instead of the merged one as a real fix, not a workaround, so this shouldn't affect
anyone, but it means Original doesn't get the small (~12%) cross-library CPU overhead reduction
Retro Rewind still benefits from.
Installing
Download the APK below, sideload it (Android will warn about unknown sources, that's expected for
an app not on the Play Store), and grant the permissions it asks for. You'll need your own
legally-dumped PAL RMCP01 Mario Kart Wii disc image (ISO or WBFS).
No Nintendo code, assets, or game data are included in this release. See the README.
Reporting bugs
Report bugs on this repo's Issues page. "Export Diagnostics" on the launch screen saves a zip of
runtime logs and config to a location you pick; attaching it to your report helps a lot.
