A hotfix release building on v1.1.0.

What's fixed

  • Crash at race start on some devices (issue #2): a VK_ERROR_SURFACE_LOST_KHR right at boot
(seen on Mali-G57 + Android 16) killed the WebGPU device with no recovery path. This is now
treated as a transient, recoverable condition with one automatic re-initialize attempt before
falling back to a fatal error.
  • Mid-race freeze/kill on weaker phones: on asymmetric (big.LITTLE) SoCs, the shader
pipeline-compile burst at scene load could pile onto the same CPU cores the renderer needs,
causing multi-hundred-millisecond frame stalls severe enough that Android would kill the app.
The renderer's presenter/frame-worker threads are now kept on the fast cores, and the
compile burst is kept off them once real gameplay starts (while still running unrestricted
during the harmless boot-time prewarm, so first-launch shader compile isn't slowed down).
  • Retro Rewind updated to 6.12.8: upstream's 6.12.8 hotfix changed Code.pul at the byte
level, which broke this app's statically-recompiled 6.12.7 support for anyone who updated -
re-translated and verified against 6.12.8. Manually importing a Retro Rewind zip/folder now
also gets a version check, so a future mismatch fails with a clear message instead of a
    silent crash.

Installing

Download the APK below, sideload it (Android will warn about unknown sources, that's expected),
and grant the permissions it asks for. You'll need your own legally-dumped PAL RMCP01 Mario Kart
Wii disc image (ISO or WBFS).

This is a debug-signed build like the last release - if Android refuses to install over your
existing copy, uninstall the old one first (this won't affect your save data, which lives
separately).

No Nintendo code, assets, or game data are included in this release. See the README.

Reporting bugs

Report bugs on this repo's Issues page. "Export Diagnostics" on the launch screen saves a zip of
runtime logs and config to a location you pick; attaching it to your report helps a lot.
