What's New

  • Transaction flow on Windows: Add support for flowing ambient transactions to services through NetTcpBinding, WSHttpBinding, WS2007HttpBinding, and custom bindings. Includes OLETransactions and WS-AtomicTransaction protocols, TransactionFlowAttribute, and TransactionFlowBindingElement (#5926).
  • Cross-platform Windows message credentials: Add Windows authentication with SecurityMode.TransportWithMessageCredential for NetTcpBinding and the WSHttp bindings, using NegotiateAuthentication (#5920).
  • AppContainer named-pipe support: Add AppContainer-aware named-pipe endpoint discovery and connections on Windows. The new NamedPipeSettings and ApplicationContainerSettings APIs allow clients to specify the target package and Windows session (#5865).

Transaction flow is disabled by default. Enable TransactionFlow on standard bindings, or add a TransactionFlowBindingElement to a custom binding, and apply TransactionFlowAttribute to the relevant contract operations. To allow local transactions to be promoted to distributed transactions, applications must also opt in with TransactionManager.ImplicitDistributedTransactions = true.

Bug Fixes

  • Fix secure-conversation token renewal against .NET Framework WCF services by correcting WS-Addressing To-header signing for security-context-token-derived keys. This prevents signature-validation failures and faulted channels when renewing certificate-authenticated sessions (#5943).
  • Ensure idle duplex client channels transition to Closed and raise Closing and Closed events when the server gracefully closes the session, instead of remaining in Opened (#5946).
  • Fix correlation-state allocation and indexing for duplex callback message and parameter inspectors, preventing array-bounds errors and one inspector's state from overwriting another's (#5971).
  • Retry transient named-pipe connection probe timeouts under contention, rather than failing immediately while the server is busy. Retries use the existing backoff and configured connection timeout (#5978).

Dependency Updates

  • Update System.ServiceModel.Federation from Microsoft.IdentityModel.Protocols.WsTrust 6.8.0 to 8.23.0, with aligned Microsoft.IdentityModel.Tokens.Saml and Microsoft.IdentityModel.Xml 8.23.0 dependencies (#5994).
  • Update Microsoft.Extensions.ObjectPool and System.Security.Cryptography.Xml to 10.0.13 (#5994).
