v1.8.4
Changelog
All notable changes to the Nutshell browser extension are documented here.
1.8.4 — Stable release
First 1.x release. Production usage has been driving the extension long
enough that pre-1.0 versioning no longer reflects reality.
Changed
- New icon set — 128 / 48 / 16 px black-on-white pixel-art mark replacing
the previous placeholders. The 16 px is on the edge of legibility against
the toolbar; will revisit once the Chrome Web Store listing goes live. - README rewritten with a centered header (icon + name + tagline +
marketplace links) and a fuller description of the page-to-glasses flow
(Jina extract → encrypted relay → phone HUD render). - Server install instructions switched from
npm install -g nutshell-server
to agit clone+npm installflow (the server isn't on npm).
0.8.x — Vite + React rewrite
- Migrated from "plain JS, no build" to React + Vite + even-toolkit on
2026-04-27 to match the phone app's UI language. Same toolkitCard,
Input,Dialog,Loadingprimitives the phone uses. - Popup now surfaces
ConnectionStatusstates explicitly (no config saved,
server stopped, wrong key, server running with correct key). - State persists in
chrome.storage.local; popup tree rebuilds on every
open.
