CTR Archipelago 0.2.2 is out. Here's the quick list; the full release notes are on AP-Pie.

Setup guide (ap-pie.com) · SETUP.md · SETUP.md as shipped

What changed since 0.2.1

  • New YAML options: Remove Playable Oxide, Relic Race Perfect Checks, and DeathLink race_loss, where a death costs you the race.
  • Held 1st logic: needs your first boost, or one useful weapon with Itemsanity. Held 1st on Cortex Castle and Hot Air Skyway needs Ultimate Sacred Fire.
  • Easy and medium: with Itemsanity off, Trophy Races on the harder tracks now need your first boost.
  • Skip Cutscenes: new local option under Options > Gameplay.
  • Discord Status: new local option under Options > Archipelago, off by default. Shows your track, mode, check count and race clock; no room, slot or seed details.
  • Freezes: the one-second freezes while racing are fixed. Short pauses on screen changes remain.
  • Steam Deck: Fullscreen no longer lags.
  • Cutscenes: the boss door scene plays once per hub and the Oxide Final Challenge scene once per seed.
  • Fresh rooms: traps and Wumpa from an old room of the same seed no longer carry over.
  • Traps: Flatten waits for a race instead of firing in the hub, and a Mask no longer drops queued traps.
  • Title screen: Archipelago colours on the ring and an ARCHIPELAGO line.
  • Signed downloads: manifest.json and its minisign signature let you check the client archives.

Downloads

Get ctr-archipelago-v0.2.2-windows-x86.zip for Windows or ctr-archipelago-v0.2.2-linux-x86.tar.gz for Linux and Steam Deck (glibc 2.36 or newer). Each has the client and the matching ctr.apworld. A 0.2.1 room can be played on the 0.2.2 client; for new seeds use the 0.2.2 client and APWorld together. Archipelago 0.6.7 or newer is needed to host. The separate ctr.apworld and Crash.Team.Racing.yaml are for hosts and generators. The .sha256 files check your downloads, manifest.json and manifest.json.minisig are the signed manifest (how to check it is in the full notes), and the .debug files help with crash reports; you don't need them to play. You need your own NTSC-U disc; no game data is included. The client isn't code-signed.

Known issues: short pauses on screen changes and low frame rate in Gem Stone Valley (#376), large reconnect backlogs can stall the game (#147), and some podium characters can show up invisible (#282). The final Linux build passed its automated checks; earlier 0.2.2 test builds ran on the Steam Deck.

Reporting a problem

Open a GitHub issue with your client version, platform, seed or YAML and what happened. Include the support bundle when it helps: run support-bundle.bat on Windows or support-bundle.sh on Linux and check it before attaching; it doesn't upload anything by itself. Questions are welcome in the Crash Team Racing channel on the Archipelago Discord.
