What's Changed

Remove background monitoring feature - users now interact with inboxd through Claude Code using the global skill.

Removed

  • inboxd check command (background email checking with notifications)
  • inboxd install-service command (launchd/systemd service installation)
  • Desktop notification support
  • node-notifier dependency

Migration

If you have the background service installed, uninstall it:

macOS:

launchctl unload ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.danielparedes.inboxd.plist
rm ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.danielparedes.inboxd.plist

Linux:

systemctl --user stop inboxd.timer
systemctl --user disable inboxd.timer
rm ~/.config/systemd/user/inboxd.{service,timer}

Optional cleanup:

rm ~/.config/inboxd/state-*.json

Why This Change?

The background monitoring feature was superseded by Claude AI integration. Users now interact with inboxd through Claude Code using the installed skill (inboxd install-skill), making background polling and desktop notifications obsolete.
