hyprdrive 1.9.36 - no more half-drawn windows, a new Mosaic packer

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 17 Oct 04:20

Since 1.9.35.

  • Fix: windows could be drawn as a small picture in the top-left of their slot with the rest blurred, on the desktop, in overview tiles and in the strip, until they were dragged. The cause is a bug in Hyprland 0.56's size bookkeeping (CWindow::onAck), which kept a stale size whenever two resizes were in flight, as happens on every plugin reload on Mosaic desktops. Hyprdrive now replaces that function with a corrected copy.
  • Mosaic: a new packer. Windows always form one cluster with no holes, three windows are no longer laid out as one long row, and windows lean toward the middle. A Super+drag drop lands on the side you drop it, and a drop in the middle lands there when the cluster can close around it. While you drag, the other windows hold still until you let go.
  • Mosaic: focus and swap windows with the keyboard (Super+arrows, Super+Shift+arrows), set in the panel.
  • Dock: multi-row live previews sit in one organic panel. Its corners follow decoration:rounding_power, matching the previews, and its inner curves match the outer ones. The panel no longer loses its background while the overview opens or closes, and app window labels no longer cover it.
  • Dock, search, results and workspace strip glass follow your Ghostty background tint.
  • Overview: hovering a window no longer glitches at high refresh rates, and its border fades to the focus colour instead of snapping.
  • Super+scroll moves through desktops; desktop-change animations depend on what triggered them; a Keybinds panel; sharper dock icons.

hyprdrive 1.9.35 - no leftover motion blur trails

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 14 Oct 18:22

Since 1.9.34 (1 fix).

  • Fix: pieces of a moving window's motion blur trail could stay on screen and flicker in and out, most visibly when Mosaic rearranges windows as a new one opens. Where the last frame's trail was is now always repainted, including the moment the blur stops.

hyprdrive 1.9.34 - hot corner, hold to swap, a smarter Mosaic

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 14 Oct 17:03

Since 1.9.33 (3 features, Mosaic reworked, 2 fixes).

  • New: Hot corner (off by default; settings panel, Overview). Rest the pointer
    in a screen corner to open the overview, and again to close it, with an
    optional ripple that bends the screen like water.
  • New: Hold to swap. In the overview, drag a window over another one and hold
    it there; let go and they trade places.
  • New: Super+arrow keys move the focus between windows on a Mosaic desktop.
  • Mosaic, reworked:
    • Opening a window never resizes the others. Only the new window may come in
      smaller; if it still does not fit, the desktop tiles.
    • Windows gather in a cluster in the middle of the screen, leaning toward the
      centre, with only your theme's gap between them.
    • Tiles behave like dwindle: a new window splits the focused one, and
      resizing a tile moves its split. Leaving the tiles, every window comes back
      at the size it had.
    • Resizing a window keeps the others still until you let go, and it grows only
      as far as everyone still fits. Push past that and the desktop darkens; let go
      there to tile. Shrinking a tile takes you back to the mosaic.
    • A window that opens floating joins the mosaic; dialogs stay floating.
  • Fix: motion blur no longer stripes or shows hard edges on big moves and
    resizes. The blur's copies now always sit within 2 px of each other.
  • Fix: the overview search button's corners follow your Hyprland rounding.

hyprdrive 1.9.33 - Icons, scratchpad actions, a full Trash menu

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 13 Oct 13:51

Since 1.9.32 (3 features, 3 fixes).

  • New: Icons, in the settings panel. Give any app on the dock a different icon:
    pick it from your icon theme, from folders of your own (a downloaded icon
    pack, say) or, if you switch it on, from the selfh.st collection of about
    3,000 app logos (CC BY 4.0). Reset, or Restore defaults, puts the original
    back. The Trash has its own group with one icon per state: empty or full, on
    a dark dock or a light one.
    • Right-click an app on the dock, then Get Info, then App Icon to jump
      straight there.
    • selfh.st is off by default. When it is on, the logo list is downloaded once
      a day and searched on your machine; previews of the matches and the logo
      you pick come from cdn.jsdelivr.net.
  • New: Open in Scratchpad, under Open in Empty Workspace, and Move to
    Scratchpad, under each window's Move to Empty Workspace, in the dock menu.
  • New: the Trash's menu works like an app's. A Files window showing the Trash
    is listed with its own actions (Move to Empty Workspace, Show Windows,
    Minimize, Close). Empty Trash is always there, greyed out while the Trash is
    empty, and Get Info shows what is in it.
  • Fix: clicking the Trash with its window open now switches to it, minimizes it
    and restores it, like an app's icon, and the window flies into the Trash
    icon rather than into Files'.
  • Fix: the dock now knows which folders Files has open. It asked Files on a
    misspelled D-Bus interface and was refused every time, so isolate_locations
    never lit the Trash's or a drive's running dot.
  • Fix: apps whose window name is a reverse-DNS id their launcher never states
    (LocalSend's org.localsend.localsend_app) get their own icon on the dock.

hyprdrive 1.9.32 - agent prompts stay text

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 12 Oct 01:31

Since 1.9.31 (2 fixes).

  • Fix: text you send to an AI agent from the overview search is now passed as
    text. Before, a prompt containing $(...), backticks or $VAR was run as a
    shell command before it reached the agent. Now every agent receives exactly
    what you typed.
  • Fix: the settings panel and the wallpaper rotation keep your files'
    permissions. Saving panel settings (including custom gesture arguments) or
    rotating the wallpaper could turn a private (0600) file into a readable
    (0644) one. Both now keep the permissions of the file they replace, like the
    rest of the scripts since 1.9.31.

hyprdrive 1.9.31 - private files stay private

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 11 Oct 14:31

Since 1.9.30 (1 fix).

  • Fix: private files stay private. Uninstalling backed up hyprland.lua as a
    new, default-permission file, and rewriting a Hyprdrive config fragment went
    through a default-permission temporary file, so a config you had made
    owner-only (0600) could come out readable by other accounts (0644).
    Every file the scripts write now keeps the permissions of the file it
    replaces, new files are created owner-only, and the folder of saved config
    snapshots is owner-only too. A new test in make check covers it.
    Nothing else changes; files you never restricted keep the permissions they had.

hyprdrive 1.9.30 - one plugin manifest

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 11 Oct 06:56

Since 1.9.29 (1 fix).

  • Fix: the repository now has exactly one plugin manifest, at its root, as the
    Omarchy plugin marketplace requires. make install generates the copied
    settings panel's manifest from it. Nothing changes for an installed setup.

hyprdrive 1.9.29 - marketplace install, make uninstall

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 11 Oct 06:05

Since 1.9.28 (installation).

  • New: install from the Omarchy plugin marketplace. omarchy plugin add https://github.com/dragosol/hyprdrive-omarchy installs the settings
    panel; then build the compositor plugin in that folder with
    make all && make install (see the README).
  • New: make uninstall removes everything make install put in place, and
    keeps a backup of hyprland.lua and your fragment edits.
  • Fix: the settings panel's text is always shown as plain text.

hyprdrive 1.9.28 - Mosaic (experimental), Send feedback

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 11 Oct 05:53

Since 1.9.27 (3 features).

  • New (experimental): Mosaic, a third desktop mode inspired by GNOME's
    planned Mosaic. Windows keep their natural size and gather in a centred
    cluster that re-arranges itself as windows open and close. When they no
    longer fit, even shrunk a little, the desktop tiles them, and it goes
    back to the mosaic once they fit again. Turn it on in the settings under
    Mosaic: it asks first, then Super+L cycles Dwindle -> Scrolling ->
    Mosaic. Mosaic can also be made the default for new desktops. Best on
    large displays; on a laptop screen only a couple of windows fit before
    it tiles.
    • Drag a window's corner to resize it on a Mosaic desktop; the resize
      cursor shows over a corner. On any layout, Super + drag from a corner
      resizes too.
    • Close an app at a size you like while it's in the mosaic, and it opens
      at that size in Mosaic from then on (dwindle and scrolling ignore it).
  • New: Send feedback, at the bottom of the settings panel. It opens a
    short GitHub form (bug, feature request or feedback) with your
    Hyprdrive version already filled in.
  • New: the settings panel can mark a section Experimental (Mosaic is).

hyprdrive 1.9.27 - steady blur on moving windows

Choose a tag to compare

@dragosol dragosol released this 10 Oct 15:25

Since 1.9.26 (1 fix).

  • Fixed: with blur on, windows no longer glitch while they move. Dragging a
    window in the overview, the 3-finger desktop swipe, the overview opening
    and closing, and windows opening or retiling used to flicker for a frame
    or two at a time, between frosted, see-through and washed-out (faded
    text, no border). A moving window now keeps the same frost it has
    standing still.
