Install

Python is built in. The first launch installs the app's libraries
from PyPI and downloads the default Whisper base model (~141 MB),
which takes a few minutes; after that it runs 100% offline.

Option 2 — pip (Windows / macOS, needs Python 3.11+)

pip install whisper-local==0.22.0

Update later with pip install --upgrade whisper-local.

Verify the download. Every .exe is built by GitHub Actions from
this repository and carries a signed build-provenance attestation:

gh attestation verify whisper-local.exe --repo drajb/whisper-local

or compare its SHA-256 with whisper-local.exe.sha256. An occasional
single-vendor antivirus flag on an unsigned app is a heuristic; if
the attestation verifies, the file is the one this repo built.
